Advice On What On-roader To Get

ok i dont race on-road very often but would like one for the ocassional road meet, at present closest i have is a ta02. i have been looking at tamiya tt01e, ta05, hpi e10 and sprint 2.

i would like something that would fit a mild brushless like the ezrun system without eating gears, oil shocks and thats about it really just a good chassis without having to spend a fortune on it.

what would you advise.

Of those chassis you have listed the obvious choice is the TA05, it's performance is way above all the others by some margin. The TT01E is good if you want to upgrade the car over time (but it won't be faster than the TA05) but the HPIs are basically stuck with the kits, not much you can do with them.

Personally I'd look into the second hand market, you can get a lot more for your money especially if its only for occasional use.

Good spec Hpi Pro2 &3s go for not much more than a couple of bodyshell's money, Yokomo Mr4s aren't much more, both I can say from experience are incredibly tough and relatively easy to set up cars.

They are more than capable of taking a hot motor, ideally on the yokomo find one with a nylon spur kit fitted, but not the alloy holder, they are junk.

The hpis should come with a meaty front bumper and nerf wings are a nice addition midships to protect the rear wheels.

TT-01 if what you want is a rough and ready basher.

If you want to race at all the TA-05 is the most bang for the buck - a very nice car.

If you want a car for racing, why not look for second-hand cars? I've just bought a Tamiya TRF-415MS with spares for 78, less than a new version of what you've listed!!

The TRF415 like you bought Matt, is a great car, but spares will be out of the market quicker than the TA05 (although the first few years it shouldn't be a problem). The TA05 is still in production, and has many other versions like the TA05R, TA05IFS and TA05IFSR - So spares will be around for long enough

My advice would be to buy a nice condition, second hand TA05. Much cheaper than a new one
