Nice shocks - bargain! You just need a couple more for the back...

Yeah, looks a bit like a cut and shut at the moment! Will replace the rears when they break...(!) ;)

EZRun ate my rear wheels! <_<

Well kind of. Took the FD out tonight on tarmac. After a while the power delivery started getting jumpy, I thought the batt was running down. Then the rear wheel came off. This has happened quite a lot, but I had just applied some thread lock the other day. When I looked at the wheel, the inside was totally mashed!

This could be down to me over-tightening the wheel nuts and/or EZRun's wrath...?! I can see cracks starting to appear in the other rear wheel too. So I guess it is just a matter of time before that goes too. I love the look of the standard wheels so I may just get another pair and watch my tightening....!

I think square makes wheel nuts that have a serrated face that keeps them from backing off.

I know the new 416 Worlds Edition that's coming out this week has them too, but I figure it will be a little while before this Tamiya part becomes available separately...

Ran the FD for 7 metres today before the Front wheel came off! :) Man I am having really bad luck with the FD. I have only manage to have 1 proper -run out the battery- run since I have had it!

All the wheels appear to be cracked, even the new ones I have only just put on. I was careful with over tightening too. So now I need some indestructible wheels! Will post when they are on.

I have bashed several packs through mine now and I still love it! Chassis is starting to show the strain though with a new crack appearing after a bash on Sunday - decided its not worth fixing it up until it breaks properly. Found a couple of the bottom wishbone screws have started working their way out but other than that its taking the pounding well :) 14t pinion seems about right too...

That looks great with the DI wheels and tyres. Hope you get some good runs in now. :D

Got me wanting a re re boomerang, ezrun, DI wheeled combo now!!!

Tested the FD with its new wheels and tyres! What an improvement! 1st off, the DI wheels are black so look like the originals at a glance, also they are slightly larger in diameter so better ground clearance. The tyres have sponges so are a bit firmer, and the tread is flatter in profile but softer. So much more grip. On tarmac the FD squats at the back under acceleration and sticks, sometimes leaning a wheel in the air. On loose surfaces there is much more forward motion and less wheelspin; I have also noticed that they kick up less dirt compared with the originals.

Got through 4 battery packs before the ESC over heated. What fantastic fun! ;)

Oh, and nothing broke!

My neighbour is building a Durga for his son. Worryingly he says that he "can't wait for his car to be ready"....Not sure the son will get a look in. LOL!

As we want to be able to run together on an equal footing, I am taking the EZ run out of the fire dragon and replacing it with a standard silver can. Although the brushless FD has great novelty appeal, I dont have the skills required to control in properly. It's all I can do to keep it in a straight line! I have found the handling at full throttle quite 'edgy' with oversteer always looming. I am hoping that life with the silver can will help me learn the handling and really get to drive it hard rather than the odd burst of power and multiple steering corrections!

Will keep you informed. We are looking to run on a gravel car park and make a track with mini cones.

my goodness what would it have been if 28yokid had tried a real man's motor B)

My FD also keeps loosing wheelnuts. Not sure why, the thread on the axles is probably "vintage" :D Serrated wheelnuts (not necessarily locknuts btw) are your best bet agains it. Get some Hot Bodies ones, the ones for the Moorespeed Cyclone. Not cheap, but available separately.

If you put the 9T back in make with these wheels make sure you gear down.

Gravel track? you're indeed better off with the slowest motor you can find as you won't be able to lay power down anyway... especially with a sensorless BL like the hobbywing ones. You also might want to consider tires with less studs and more space between then as such minispikes will "glide" above the loose surface and you'll be driving on ice.

Anyway - have fun no matter what ;)

The EZrun's in the old buggies sounds like a blast ! You can never have to much power

Get some video's up !

Def a blast. On tarmac a couple of battery packs could turn some new tyres into slicks. Don't have the tools for videos unfortunately. Maybe one day tho. You have any old buggies with hot motors?

I've got a Hornet, Super Horney and an Astute (buggy wise), only one which see's any use is the Hornet which is running a Superstock BZ.

I have a got Stadium Thunder / Blitzer Beetle Hybrid which I eventually intend to go brushless with when I get it running.

I have Brushless MambaMax 4600Kv in Super Champ, Grasshopper and Fox. Blast to drive and they run for ages because you don't need much throttle input.

Took the FD out with the silver can today. A bit of tarmac and grass. Although obviously slower than the EZ run, but not as boring as I expected. Was fun as I really got to learn the FD's handling which had a really great turn in (lots of steering lock) but had a tendency to flip if I slowed too suddenly into a sharp turn on grass -the FD is quite high riding. The motor had just enough torque to drift on dusty tarmac so I cant wait to get it into the gravel carpark!

As an added bonus, nothing broke and no massive cartwheel style stacks as was common with the EZ run. Wouldn't mind getting a ST540 in tho. Maybe in the future :o
