Very interesting  If this isn't a hoax people will be screaming for these bodysets... Although the value of the original Wranglers may go down a bit...

Thats excellent news for us guys wanting to buy one, but not willing to put a 2nd mortgage on our homes.

HOLY CR-P !! My heart almost stopped when I saw this topic. But when I think of it I bet its a lexan body  If ABS i will stock up like a mad man :D

Two hopes of that!

Bob Hope and No Hope!

Jeep doesn't like Tamiya, Looks like a homemade creation to me with an original Wrangler Body on a cr-01.

I really hope it isn't a wind up but i'm not counting my chickens just yet.

I posted about that over in the "Tamiya's new release" thread and it got shot down as a hoax

From the photo I have seen, it's the old CC01 body. The wheelbase is all goofy like the Toyota body...

I think if Tamiya did all the new and re releases just a few years earlier I would think Tamiya is back into the RC business and would have bought everyone of them from the Porsche, hornet, frog, hotshot, F350... but now for me to buy another RC, it would really has to catch my fancy like a fusion of static and RC model combined and the New Tundra may just do it. The jeep will need to be a hard body and very scaled detailing. The old XC Jeep I found the rear was forgotten by the designer and 1/20 scaled outside mirrors were supplied instead of 1/10

**, it's not just a rumor :D Gotta love google's translation support! Thanks for the link Japanscaledriver

Really, Tamiya finally hits spot on with their releases and ideas this year! The CR01 (Both the Yota and the Unimog), Suzuki SX4, Volkswagen Golf, TB03, TRF416, TRF801X, Seperate drivetrain units for Crawlers, The Rising Fighter (Finally a good budget car that's not a QD, great for kids or people with low budgets)!

And why do I say finally? Well, the past few years haven't been the best for tamiya in my opinion... A bit too many TT01 releases, way too many Raybrig NSX's and too much of the 2001 and 2003/4 Impreza, etc... And now suddenly almost every time they announce new releases there's something or several exciting things to look foward to!

Well, that's it then I just saved up for 6 months to buy a NIB Jeep Bodyset, it arrived a few weeks ago, now it is looking more and more lagitimate that they will release one........ Like washing the car and then it rains.... Buuuuut if it ends up being a lexan I am ok :D

Sorry my friend if I added to your feelings of being shot down in the other thread, Even though I only just coughed up a butt load of money for a NIB Jeep bodyset from Jason it will be awesome to see them re-re at least the body if not the whole XC in the future.

Very exciting to see it on the list even if tentative, I am going to put my money on it being a lexan version and perhaps even a late model Wrangler :)

I don't get the whole crazy money for a particular body thing... they are so common here in the USA (1:1) , and the hard core off road guys have these crazy home built monsters. They are mostly all roll cage with massive tires (kind of like the thing backtomyroots has junfac???). To be honest the toyota land cruiser shell in my opinion looks great and most offroaders here kill for one of those or a defender 90. After that, and Jeep wranglers on massive tires and lifts, go with the crazy crawlers.

I'm just saying, the Tamiya wrangler kit looked scale as 1:1 show room model, but most owners change that quickly. I -think- the CR01 chassis is not right for that shell anyway, the highlift looks way more scale to what you can do with a wrangler in real life. my 2 cents.

Agreed that the hard body Jeep is not the best choice for the CR-01, lexan will be more practical. As for crazy money, what I spent wasn't crazy but it was a lot to me, might not be to someone else, but I was prepared to spend it to get the scale body I wanted, each to their own I guess, I personally don't see the appeal in electric buggies (I might change my mind, the Dark Impact has got my attention), but people like them.

Besides, I already have a Land Cruiser and a Defender so the Jeep was next on my list :D

I just think that, a part from the material used such as ABS or Lexan, the jeep body isn't good for the cr-01 chassis...At least from the picture i see, it seems to me too high and, don't know, small at the same time...IMO on an high-lift chassis it would be better, and even if i like the YJ, i think the CJ or the new JK could be nicer.

Well guys, it'll be an ABS hardbody. Reveiled bij McFig on scale4x4rc:

1. It is a CR-01 Jeep Wrangler

2. It is an ABS, hard body

3. As JAnderson pointed out, the rings are Tamiya hop-ups

4. Tentative? Licensing I'm guessing

5. Due December, but that can always change.

Would be great if Tamiya offered an ABS version of the body as an option for 'shelf-queening' duties!

I think you might have missed the bit where it was stated that it will be released as an ABS hard body ;)
