Re-re's You Still Want To See Happen!

Recommended Posts

Sorry don't mean to start a duplicate but I've searched right back to May and I can't see where the thread went about what cars you still want to see released again!

Mine (for ever!) has been the Monster Beetle! I couldn't resist waiting any more and have purchased a second hand one from ebay (not cheap!!) but I need my fix!! I would love to build one again from NIB though and think that if Tamiya do get their act together anr re-re this beauty, they would make a killing as there are loads of guys that would buy it I'm sure!! The question is, what's stopping them?!!

Maybe licensing for the use of the beetle (though they have the license for the production of the M-04L version), or they are too busy finding new ways to market the TT-01, or they are not listening!. IMHO, the time to do the beetle was when the King or Super Blackfeet were in production, they could of done a Monsterbeetle 2 and we could of had a reliable MB.

I tell you, if they continue their new habit of not matching the body to the wheelbase (Blackfoot X, Landcriuser 40) and put a beetle body on a Blackfoot X chassis I will rant again... for 3 paragraphs next time!. :)

I think the Monster Beetle would be a great move. However IIRC the Beetle body isn't licenced from Volkswagen, it's actually based on a fibreglass Baja kit that's owned by someone else. I don't know what would be in it for them to have a company like Tamiya producing replicas of their shells the world over, since most people who buys Tamiya kits won't recognise it - unlike a VW Beetle (or any other mainstream 1:1 car) which is instantly recognisable. But who knows?

First choice for me - FOX PLEASE! :);):( Second choice, Wild One.

I'd also love to see the Mud Blaster. This was my only NIB Tamiya as a child, and going to the shop to buy it was one of the most exciting days of my life. Putting it together was a joy, as was painting and stickering the shell (even though I did a terrible job!) and racing it for the first time on my gravel driveway (oh, such a good place to grow up!!:P :P) and ultimately smashing it to pieces over the following years. The Brat shell is already licenced, plus Tamiya also have a Lexan shell in production, so bashers can have runner and shelfer shells. Personally I think it'd be better (for me) if it was based on the King Blackfoot chassis with oil shocks etc, as this was vastly superior to the earlier variants, but I expect most people would want it to be as close to the original as possible.

OK so am I right in thinking that the Kind Blackfoot was basically just an uprated version of the old Blackfoot, which was of course (I think) exactly the same as the old Monster Beetle but for the shell?

Willy's Wheeler for me, probably on the WW2 chassis, & maybe slightly different tyres & shell to preserve the rarity of the original?

Well... It's a bit like the question "What cars/parts would you like to own or own in a couple of years without spending a fortune?" - Which is quite a lot. This is a probably incomplete list I'd love to see the re-released within now and a few years. If they re-re'd any of these it would already be awesome!

- TA03F Subaru Impreza WRC '97.

- FF01 Ford Mondeo, Honda Jaccs Accord, Volkswagen Golf V5 and/or Renault Clio.

- Wild One.

- Fox.

- Vanquish.

- Dyna Storm (Re-Re-Re) :)

- Renault Alpine A110 Bodyset.

- Fiat Abarth 1000 TCR Bodyset.

- Lancia 037 Rally Bodyset.

- Taisan Porsche 911 GT2 Bodyset.

- Toyota Celica GT-Four (TA01/58096/July '91 Release) Bodyset.

- Castrol Celica '93 Monte-Carlo Bodyset.

- Michelin Pilot Cosworth and/or Repsol Ford Escort RS Bodyset.

As for the Dyna Storm... It's simply legendary for me! It's not too old fashion in design, yet not too futuristic... Really has a perfect design in my opinion... And it is the most advanced Tamiya 2WD buggy to date! Ad if they don't re-re it (which they won't), please give the Tamiya fans more choice than just the DT02... You have a nice base for the gearbox or actually the whole car already (DF03)!

Can anyone tell me...Why does the Monster Beetle attract such a following? With all the re-re threads, the Monster Beetle always has such a high interest? Never thought it was a good lucking buggy the first time around, so what is it about it? Just curious that's all!

I meant "dead sexy" like the chubby character from the Austin Powers movies.

"I'm dead sexy. Look at my sexy body."

Put me down for the Monster Beetle as well. As for why it attracts a following, well there are reasons but its also personal taste. It has a cross-market appeal being tied to VW which has a strong following. At the time of its inception, The MB was the top of the line Tamiya monster. It had most of the goodies in the kit with exception of bearings and the Technigold. Retro folks like the old touches like yellow CVA shocks and gold plated wheels. Like the Lunch Box, the MB was topped with a "different" body than the run-of-mill pickup truck that most monsters got. Just a few reasons that come to mind.

Well Carrera, good question. I don't really understand it either... I can understand that the chassis may have been nice in it's time, and if it was one of tamiya's cars that everyone wanted as a kid then it's easy to understand why so many people want one, but I don't like the looks of it... That body belongs on a relatively scale chassis like the scorcher ;)

Btw, I also forgot to mention tamiya should re-re many hard-to-find decal sets...

Hoorah!! I knew they'd be someone else out there that agreed with me!

Seriosly, i'm not poking fun at the MBnor wanting to start a heated discussion! I guess i grew up in the Sand Scorcher, Sand Rover era so seeing the VW body on a 'Big Foot' type of chassis just doesn't look right. Everyone to there own right!

At least if they do re-re it, they'll be lots of very happy Sand Scorcher owners able to buy a runner body!

I really want a re release of the Blackfoot. I love the looks, black and red. So cool!

Can't find one on ebay, and I look most days. I remember seeing the kits for sale in the local model shop when I was little.

Maybe we should do a poll?

I have a Monster Beetle but I would like to see a Re-re on a better chassis.

Time to do the Blitzer Beetle also, they are very popular and people will buy it at a reasonable price. Sellers want an arm and a leg for a NIB ;) , and more if it is a Chrome ED :) ..

The EGRESS - I can dream :D

I still vote Fast Attack Vehicle. All-plastic construction, simple to build but complicated to detail properly, looks dead-on scale, and the re-re Frog axles would solve a lot of the durability problems. I wanted one then, and I still want one now. The Boomerang I can resist (for a while), but an FAV I'd probably even pre-order.

If not, then any of the old 2WD plastic buggies would be cool: Wild One, Fox, Falcon, heck, even a Striker...

Fox

Wild One

Monster Beetle

Vanquish

Egress

Top Force Evo

Super Shot (with GT Tuned motor)

I was super-lucky on the Dyna Storm front - picked up a couple of the re-issues when they were being cleared out for rock bottom prices. One had a slightly damaged box and I intend to build it one day. The other is perfect NIB and is shrinkwrapped.

I'd also like to see a Blitzer Beetle, with better boxart livery.

Doutbt Tamiya cares about "rarity"... Wheeler shell has already been re-released.

Wild One for me hands down. With MSC please.

The Fox, but err... I have a mint new built ;) .

One's choice seems to come down to their own childhood. LOL

Definitely:

Super Shot with better damper and better stock motor lol

Bigwig with better bumper (doubt it)

Original Avante with non-breakable suspension parts

Egress with slightly different sus geometry and main slipper clutch (I guess that goes for Avante, too)

Vanquish with Egress improvements...in plastics LMAO

Improbable:

Super Champ or the SRBs. They could work the gearbox a bit, reduces their weight abit and better suspension without looking not scale.

PORSCHE 959 with new and improved suspension bits

(the same with Toyota Celica).

Audi Quattro in TT01E (not polycarbonate/lexan body but the ABS resin body lol just like Lancia 037) or DF03Ra.

Willy's Wheeler but instead of the old Honda City, bring it back in HOnda Fit/Jazz instead.

FF01s (Civic+Mondeo+Accord+Primera). Either keep the body the same or update them to the newest style body (but keep Civic as a HB).

Not much of Re Re:

Audi Quattro Pikes Peak in TT01E-Drift or TB03D

Peugeot 405T16 Pikes Peak in TT01E-Drift or TB03D (complete with the eiffel tower).

Suzuki XL7 Monster Pikes Peak

and last but not least Rod Millen Celica Pikes Peak (Yellow ST205)

Can I ask - are you keeping this shrinkwrapped for yourself, or to keep in immaculate condition to sell at a later date?
