58028 Hilux Transmittion Question

hi, I mod my tranny to ball bearings and found in setup when I shifted to the 3rd/top gear manually the gear seems not click to the the fork or what it just spin, I have to push it harder to hear a click sound and sounds the gear is connected and it works. does it normal?

Did you put the correct shims to make the thickness of the flange bearings the same as the original flange bronze busings?

I used the 850 bearing with flange

But the thickness of the flange is different than the original. So you need to put shims to correct this problem.

If you go to page 2 of vintage discussions, you'll find a previous thread of mine "Vintage 3 speed question". In there is a link to an excellent on line manual, that one of the guys on this forum pointed me to.

It's brilliant, and it tells you the amount of shims to put behind each bearing. Happy reading!!
