Oh yes, Erica (MadMini) loves her Mardave racing but is also addicted to collecting Tamiya Lorries, running her other cars (shes up to about 15 cars now) not bad for someone up until a little over 3 years ago had never seen an RC car. In some ways its a good thing I dont get moaned at about the number of cars I have but on other hand if I turn up with a new car I get asked..

"Is that mine"

I answer no

"So wheres mine"

So this hobby is now costing me twice as much as it did before she got into it.

Not mine - she tolerates my toys though...

"Tolerates" sounds about right. Though my darling wife still fuels the fire by purchasing gifts of the sort...

She does not share my addiction and sometimes give me a hard time to dive into the basement.... (guess I stressed it a bit over the last month)

But when it comes to built her custom made lipo heated gloves to enable skiing in cold temperatures (to offset her insufficient blood circulation) she is oh so happy that I have 'some" experience in soldering etc.......

After all - she likes the smaller cars (Mini-Z) and the ones I especially made for her.

But there is worse problems than this one - am I right ?

I wonder if my huge collection of RCs has something to do with my inability to keep a girlfriend..?

:P;)

;) Look on the bright side, an RC car never moans at you, and never fills potential RC storage space with shoes and clothes :P

I'm very lucky, my wife is very understanding/ tollerant of my fascination with RC and slot cars. The only comment I get is to put more shelves up to store them! She does have a super modified TL01, but seldom uses it. I think I have got about 16 RC cars now, and about 100 slot cars, so I guess I am really lucky that she is so understanding.

Unfortunately...while I am into R/C, her hobby is to collect shoes, bags and clothes :P . The good thing about us, she don't mind me spending on my stuff and I don't mind her spending too. It is a mutual feeling ;) .

But seriously. i wish I can share this hobby with my better half. I can only see that I will be able to play with my 2 little biys in the future. I envy those guys with wifey around during play or race. I even seen a "couple" race each other in a local small track. such a lovely sight.

Mine isn't amused by my Toys however i have found a rather natty way of a compromise.

I buy cars and parts and she gets new clothes i end up paying for both but everyones a winner and i get a Quiet life!.

"Oh for God's sake, you already have 7 or something."

She won't even take one for a spin with me. She's afraid they're too fast and will kill someone...might have to get a Grasshopper motor in the Hornet for her or something...

Mrs 28yok, has been out to the beach with the Pumpkin, and quite enjoys it! :D

Unfortunately my Tamiya 'addiction' is not looked upon sympathetically. I have found that selling other things to bring money in helps take the edge off when she finds out that I have bought yet another car!!!!! ;):P :P

My wife isn't addicted like myself but does enjoy running them all the same. She has a Hornet, Dirt Thrasher and a chrome Midnight Pumpkin (the Pumpkin she assembled herself with a little guidance from me). She like racing against me, general bashing and recently, rock crawling (albeit with my new Land Cruiser). The problem with her (other then leaving most of the maintaince chores up to me) is she DOESN'T say "no"...ever. I'm extremely um, miserly except when it comes to automobiles and RC cars. Without someone watching over me, both seem to multiply at a frightening rate around my home.

I think what has helped me get away with it recently is Mrs Retroman has a huge love of going Carp fishing. That can swollow some money up!! If she blows a hundred quid on fishing gear, I don't feel so bad about blowing the same on a new project.

My wife has her own Midnight Pumpkin and enjoys running it. It started life as a re-re Lunchbox, to which I donated an old Pumpkin body shell I had sitting around. She's in love with the old fat-fendered 1950's pickup trucks, so the MP was right up her alley.

She doesn't quite get the value of quality bench time, and she says she doesn't want to do any upgrades to "Punkin." But she is at least fairly understanding, and since she has a hobby that also involves sitting and working with small tools (jewelry-making), we can drag out our respective toolboxes, watch a movie, and enjoy our hobbies while still spending time together.

My partner is exactly the same - although she did build her first RC (a Mini Cooper) a few months back, which she's pretty proud of. While she enjoyed building it somewhat, she isn't really too keen to run it, partially because she doesn't want to crash it!

She does roll her eyes a bit, when a new car enters the fold though...

Well I wouldn't say into... but she will snatch the remote of me and have a go or pester me to hand the remote over if she thinks she hasn't had her fair share lol

Not sure what she'll make of a Tamiya RC as Ive only had cheap outa the box RC's in the past and the Tiger Tank doesn't count but she's had a go at that as well
