Hello all !

Well, I had to wait to be almost 40 yo to get them, but I finally managed to get a Hummer and a Pumpkin ;-)

They are some of my all times favorites models and I can’t wait to play with them (they are on their way from ebay).

I always have been more or less involved with RC models (planes+boats) , but I am a complete idiot with RC cars !

There seem to be a lot of knowledgeable modelers on this board, so here are my (very simple) questions :

- I have already ordered ball bearings sets from Stellamodels. Is there anything I need to know on installing them ?

- I would like to put some nice chrome wheels on the pumpkin. (hate the plastic yellow ones). Which ones will fit ? where can I buy them online ?

- what kind of oil shocks will fit on both models ? where can I buy them online ?

- I already have a 1700, a 1900 and a 2400 amp 6 elements batteries. Will they be enough for the stock motors ? what is the max power I can use ?

- What would be a good but still affordable upgraded motor for both models ? where can I buy them online ?

- I also would like to put some lights kit on both models. Is the tamiya one better than the leds I can find on ebay ?

Well, I hope it has not been asked a thousand times already. But English is not my primary

language, and any help is welcome !

Thanks,

Dom

Not really pretty straight forward, just remove standard bushings and fit the new bearings instead

More than enough, you should get at least 10mins of run time with the 1700.

You could use the other packs you have and you will just get longer run times still, the higher the mah the longet they will last.

Run them with the stock 540 at first to see how you get on,the Pumpkin is a bit tall and wobbly so might not go to well with a motor that is too hot.

I also would like to put some lights kit on both models. Is the tamiya one better than the leds I can find on ebay ?

Tamiya stuff is a bit pricey, might be better to make them yourself using some LEDS.

I have done this with my Juggernaut.

Someone here has a "How-to" on fitting lights on a Pumpkin and someone else has one on fitting them to a Hummer.

Hope that helps.

The ones I didn't answer I am not sure about!

not sure on the hummer, but the pumpkins upgrade shocks are the "305 c.v.a short shock unit set", you will also need the 4 metal mounting brakets to fix them to the chassis - these origianally came with the kit, someone should be able to help you out with them.

when using oil shocks on the pumpkin, you might want to make yourself a metal chassis brace to go across the top of the chassis, between the top of the shocks - like the braces used on hi performance cars! it'll help stiffen the front of the chassis up.

Whao !

That was fast [;)]

Thanks guys, and thanks for the internet... I don't remember how we were living before that !

Are those oil shocks a real improvement ?

I don't know if the metal mouting are in the kit... I'm still waiting for them.

I think I have seen some pretty good leds on ebay, I might give it a try.

Also I want to use pretty basic futaba "plane" servo. Will they have enough torque ?

The wild wily 2 wheels will work as long as you buy the HPI wheels adapters http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXN057&P=7 the wheels can also be bought from Tower Hobbies

Your best bet is a standard 27 turn stock motor. you can go much faster but you risk thrashing your cars in a crash at high speed

I like the Tamiya one as the bulbs are made to fit perfectly in the headlight housing. They also come with the special clips to keep the bulbs in. They also plug right into the stock MSC. They are not very expensive either http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGJ50&P=7

The only thing with the Tamiya bulb set is they aren't very bright, they get warm/hot in use and they look quite yellowish.

LEDs brighter, last longer and dont get warm/hot in use.

But on the upside the Tamiya lights do just plug into the exisiting wiring.

my brother belive it or not can do the light thing. He gets old pc leds and solders them to a watch battrey thing and there pretty solid.Very sad i know but its praticley free!the bulbs last bout 2 months as for the battery ages.I have red blue yellow and just normal.Ill have to ask him but on a baja king theres many places to put it

Thanks for all the heads up !!!

That is very helpfull.

Willys wheels might be a good option.

As for the lights, would they be a way to fit them in the pumpkin chrome bar ? I guess it is plain solid, and drilling to put the wires must be almost impossible ... (?)

i would not advise drilling find somewhere else to place them and on the bumper is not a good plan.I found out the hard way smashed open.

Shodog, I don't see the WW2 wheels at Tower (?) I'll try on ebay, they look pretty much better than the yellow plastic ones...

Are they the same size as the stock pumpkin ones ?

Do I have to buy the tires as well or will the stock ones fit ?
