I have been recommended a few in the past by various RC shops, but wondered what was the best greese to protect gears as far as you are all concerned? I want to PROTECT my vintage cars gears with the best gear going, so any help would be great on this matter! Also whilst on the 'gears' subject - does anyone know where I can purchase a pinion gear from for a motor? Just the standard silver pinion that is used with all electric cars really :D

Thanks

tamiya ceramic grease is good stuff. do not use the anti wear grease as terry.sc warned me earlier today it is very sticky.

there are loads of different sizes of pinions so i cannot say witch is for you.

What car is it?

I use some automotive grease which is often used in the driveshafts

It has molybednum (3%) in it which of what I understand is the lowest friction material known to man

The Ninja needs a 16 tooth 32dp pinion, these should be available from any decent hobby shop as they are made by RW Racing and Robinson Racing.

You can also fit an 18 tooth 32dp pinion, this is the same size as the Hornet pinion but to protect the plastic gears I wouldn't recommend Tamiyas aluminium pinions, they wear quickly which then damages the spur gears teeth.

Hi, many thanks for the advice. Can I ask then that I just need ask for a RW Racing or Robinson Racing 18tooth pinion gear for the Ninja?

Thanks once again

You need to ask for a 16 tooth 32dp pinion, that's all. If you say it's for a Ninja no one will know what you are talking about.

Here you go, this is exactly what you want

Brilliant thanks so much! Out of interest, the Ninja came with two pinions, one was a 16 tooth one and the other an 18 tooth one. Do you know if its possible to fit like a 20 tooth or even bigger into it??

Thanks :)

Haven't got a clue, never ran one. The motor mount is slotted though so I guess you'll have to fit the motor and see if there's enough clearance to get a bigger pinion in there.
