Hi all,

was checking the pumpkin the other day when I realised that even with CVAs on the back, the rear travel was pretty bad. In my wisdom I decided to do away with the CVAs and put them on the front.

To replace them I am trialing a mono-shock setup! Travel is much improved as is rear axle articulation. Bad bits are that the rear is a little high now  although this is not really noticeable unless you lie on the ground! I couldnt raise the front as the axle set-up means the wheel camber is affected. Was wondering if some Clod wheels would work? Would they fit ok? What adjustments would I need to make to attach them??

Oh my, that's... Hmm. Interesting. Well, I suppose, if it works...

As for Clod Buster wheels and tires, I'd say forget it. I mean, yeah, where there's a will there's a way, but unless you know, or are, a machinist capable of making some very strange adapters, I doubt you can get them on there. And Clod tires weigh probably three times as much as Pumpkin tires. The poor suspension parts would flail all over the place under the weight.

You can bolt Blackfoot/Monster Beetle (or Traxxas Slegdehammer, if you can find them) wheels right on, with no modifications, and that will gain you about an inch (25mm) in diameter. And they don't weigh a whole lot more, so no worries there.

Took the pumpkin out today, was fantastic fun. The sport tuned with a 4600mah is a great combo! The mono-shock started off well, but in the end it cracked the chassis where it attached.

When I got home I put some stronger springs on the front CVAs, which I had attached to the front wishbones, and replaced the mono-shock with the original shocks from the front, which give a nice soft travel and don't appear to rub the motor either!

I am sure you will be pleased to see that the Pumpkin is now back to it's 'normal' proportions... :)
