I'm not talking about the one everybody keeps for collecting purpose, but once it is built, do you guys keep the box of a running model ? just curious...

My pumpkin came today from HK, and the box is slightly bruised, so I'm not sure I'll keep it.

My "first" collection is military 1/6 action figures. I used to keep the boxes at the beginning... but now that I have 200+ figures, I had to do something !!!

I *always* keep the boxes of anything that has value, for resale, service or collectibility reasons.

You would not believe the grief I've had over the years from parents/girlfriends etc who always want me to throw 'em away...

I will tell you one box I would never want to throw away, and that is the box my Leopard2A6 came in ! What a work of art that is, must be worth about £10 on it's own!

Nope, i cut them up and use the front picture

as wall cover (wallpaper?)

At the moment stored, rebuilding the roof [8)]

The rest get in the fireplace.

Am i a rebel now??? :) :) :) :)

I always want to keep it all, but here's the story:

About 20 yrs ago (junior high), I cut the cover picture and throw the box, then put it on my bedroom wall.

Now, its all gone, I was moved, moved and moved couple of times, not only to different address, but to different country too (now, california, uSA).

For recent bought stuff, I CAN'T keep it, for safety reason (if I wanna keep alive heheh), I usually ship the stuff I bought (ebay) to my office, then take them apart then bring it home and put them in a parts bin, so someone in my house (u know who) would think its just some parts that I have.

Then, I slowly build it again and play it, then its too long for that someone to remember that its a new stuff.

Sad huh ?

But in the future, when I have more income, have my own house and everything, I would have a room for my self (work room or something), then at that time, money is not an issue anymore (hopefully) so it just wouldn't matter how much Tamiya I buy.

And at that time, I'll keep everything.

Ah, ah, ah !

TamiyaRC, that's a funny story ;-)

But I can understand what you mean... Our loved ones would not understand why we need so many toys !

But room is always a problem... I already have a "play or working room" full of stuff and I'm in the process of setting up another one in our "guest house" in the garden... but I had to negociate for that one !

Tamiya RC, ultima radio

Solution:

Show them these 2 showroom links,

Tell her ," be glad i am not like him " :)

There are only 2 area's in the house where you will not find

any rc stuff: The loo (ehm, translation error(?) where you do your buisniss, and the ehhmmm.... ow..

correction, only one room without rc bits & pieces or cars :)

and, if they bother you about the garden:

Well in this case I must be very lucky![:D] as my other half is happy to let me have my models![8D] Altho I do have to build and keep them in there room as MY sanity would be at risk if I was to let just one grub screw enter the living room! (beleive me she went potty when she saw my Midnight Pumpkin in bits all over her nice clean carpet!)[:0]

Back on topic! I tend to keep all the boxes but throw out old trees and bags (but not bag headers) then I (carefully!) use my scalpel to open up the boxes and store them in large "art folders" that you can get in WH Smith And the like!

Interesting.I used to keep all the paper headers from the screw bags etc,the box and all related paperwork. Not any more. It gets trashed for the most part.I'm not a big box fan. They take up so much room. On the wife issue,I have been married 28 years, and she has lost interest in what I spend or do-down in the pit.As long as I'm happy she leaves me alone. I don't remember the last time she asked what something costs. If she really likes soemthing she says so.Other than that-I'm on my own. I guess thats what you get after that many years of "tamiya madness"and marriage.

ive got some old boxes from my 1st ever runners i had there full of toy plastic soldiers(tamiya/airfix/britains etc) in the loft and ive got a vell hammered mini cooper box as a odds and ends box

the modern boxes ive got are just sitting in the loft used as storage of old handsets etc

I keep all the boxes, but throw away all the screw bags etc etc, dont really need them, shrink wrap them all up and stick them in my cupboards or in a spare room where half of them are atm.

I keep all the spares in zip lock bags in some big tubs, find that the best way to store
