Hi all,

my transmitter alkaline batts are starting to show the amber light. So time to get some rechargables and a charger.

Any recommendations???

I would prefer a charger that cuts out once the batts are done.

Cheers

Why not buy a tx/rx dual charger for your radio, and put rechargeables in the tx? its what i do!

It will charge a bunch of flat batts in about 16 hours, but put it on for a couple of hours once a week, with the odd overnight charge, and you will never have flat batts again!

I've bought a few chargers from http://www.battery-force.co.uk/ and have always been pleased with their products and service. I bought an EverReady fast charger from there which charges in 15 mins, but you need to make sure you are using top quality cells or they will vent (They don't sell the Ever Ready now, but there is an equivalent Ansmann charger). For normal non-emergency charging I use a Uniross charger which fully charges 4 2000mah cells in about 90 mins.

I also regularly use a Maplin charger which can do 8 cells at once; it's an overnight (8 hour) charger, which for running cells in a transmitter is ideal as a trickle charge on Nimh cells will make them work better with a trickle discharge such as that required for a transmitter.

I use GP NiMh rechargeable batteries. You can get 8 x 2700mAh for about 15 off ebay.

I charge them in the Tx with a futaba charger. When power meter on Tx shows batteries getting low charge over night.

They seem to last for ages.

If you have a programmable battery charger you can get a caddy and charge them in that.

Energiser or Duracel Ni-MH 2500mAh I use... and they come with their own fast chargers. I find the duracell charger better but the energiser batteries last longer.
