I went with a stock/mild custom look with bug number 1... added the roof rack and stock wheels to it... the drag bug still has a lot left to be done to it but I wanted to show it

Was the drag bug inspired by Jon Rathbones racer?, looks similar!!

the roof rack is made of soldered brass and basswood that has been stained. the paintjob was kinda inspired by CB performance's car... I changed it slightly. yea all of my bugs have decklid standoffs... they are lexan strips shaped like vw hinges and I simply made black lexan fill-in plates behind them so you can't see all the way through. I have a vw engine w dual carbs and a few custom exhausts I made that I'm thinking of pulling molds off of and casting them in resin for my vw builds is anyone here interested in them as well? the engine has a porsche style fanshroud conversion, dual webers and the exhausts are a stinger style for street bugs and the merged flowmaster style you see on the drag bug...

Thanks for that extra info and pic, I have a 1/1 beetle and a couple of tamiya blitzers, Got stand-offs on my big car and the roof rack! and various other hop-ups!,

Those are both very nice examples and shows what you can do with the standard kit!
