Hi,

I have been thinking of making some high quality decals. They would be printed on white vinyl from a very high quality photo printer and priced at around 5 a sheet. Not going to be sold on ebay just on here. Don't take the risk with poor quality repros from ebay, I would offer full refunds for any damages and discounts for multiple sheets. In a rush right now so can't put any details but will add more later. Would anyone be interested?

wow so this could be a perfect opportunity for me a 13 year old with not much money, to make abit of extra cash for my hobby. Right so, unlike the ebay decals for 10, I can make them on vinyl which in theory would be waterproof. Now I am not promising brilliant tamiya quality decals, I cannot print white ink so they would be on glossy white vinyl but I have seen some pictures printed with the same printer and I can say the quality is amazing! Now I have afew things I need to sort out,

1, Would you rather have gloss of matte finish? I have no original decals to hand so im not sure what the originals were.

2, Were the originals a4 sheets?

3, Would anyone want them printed on a clear sheet so the white would be clear so you can stick them on a white body?

All suggestions welcome. I reckon the price will definatly be no more than 5-6 a sheet plus postage. Oh and sorry but I cannot do pre cut decals as to be honest my cutting skill are rubbish B) But its no more than cutting paper in theory.

What about Lunchbox decals? Can you do them? Anyone else?

Best thing to do is do a sample sheet both on and off a shell. Get some pics and let people know what they are like. If they are decent, I'm positive you'd be inundated with requests/work.

Yep im pretty sure I can do lunchbox decals. Remember these will be copies from high resolution scans of the originals. They should be waterproof as vinyl is however a coat of laquer or somthing like that should seal them. As I said before the price will definatly not be more than 5-6 a sheet and will be the same for every car. I bet celica grb ones would be in huge demand as no one is doing them. May print a sample and send them to a member to test in the wet ect and give a review on them. Wonder if I can get enough to buy my dream car a tamiya hilux?

Please say if you are after decals, then I will know which ones have the highest demand.

So when you say 'high quality photo printer' what sort do you mean??

is it a dye sublimation or solvent printer??

You also say 'should be waterproof', if your using one of the 2 printers I mentioned then

there's no question, they WILL be waterproof

Please realise that it's not just a matter of nipping to PCWorld, buying some sticky vinyl sheets

and printing on them using a bog standard inkjet printer

If it was we would all be doing it

There is a reason good quality decals aren't cheap

hi mate

maybe you should try doing something different aswell?

if you look here in my showroom at the decals it may give you some ideas.

ive had quite a few people asking where i got them.i bought them from a guy on here, but i dont think hes making them anymore.

maybe theres a gap for you to make them

and also maybe do a sheet with number plates ,like the monster beetle bugsy one or blitzer beetle ,clod, blackfoot number plates.

or how about bilstein/monroe decals for cva shock bodies or scorcher shock bodies?

id have a few off of you as they are great for projects.

Hi all

I know a lot of people have been stung by some of these supposed vinyl decals that end up being some bedroom produced rubbish onto a sticky back paper! I bought some for my Holiday Buggy resto back in the summer :0(

I've done quite a few decals recently, (after seeing theses 'paper stickers') for RC model projects all over the world, I've been digitally printing them using precision Roland hi res printers using Eco Sol water proof, UV resistant inks. When printed on vehicle grade 7 year flexible vinyl the results are fantastic, also managed to put 'contour cut' lines to within 0.5mm too! Although these results have been fantastic the digital printers can't print 'White' onto clear vinly, we also have traditional screen printing beds here too and i'm working on some of those 'tricky to reproduce' white decals onto a suitable clear vinyl.

hopefully I should be able to sort out your requests soon!! nearly there with Wild Willy decals and many others! What we're actually doing is the printing colour decals on the white vinyl (as per the scorcher ones you have) the maintains the vivid colours and accurate cut lines, the the 'white' decals, i.e. the bonnet numbers on Wild Willy etc are being traditionally screen printed onto a separate sheet of high grade clear vinyl. As soon as the first sets are ready i'll let you know

Interesting!

Well out of strange coincidence I met someone online who is into RC cars AND does professional decal printing for a living.

Here is what he wrote me today:

Are the scans good enough to work off of? How about scale? If I had a 1:1 clean scan, I could clean the rest up and do in my choice of clear vinyls to match the original. I have the original decals on the car, so I could use a small edge off of one of them to measure the thickness.

Since they were printed graphics to begin with, I'm not restricted to a certain number of colors. I expect I'd need to go through 3-5 tries to get the colors right.

I work with mostly Ducati motorcycles, which is where I do most of my graphics work. The complexity of the Avante decals is no worse than a lot of the sponsor logos I do for race bikes or custom projects. This would be kind of exciting, just to see how it turns out.

So what he has asked me is to provide him with a HIGH RESOLUTION scan of the graphics... can someone send me the original Avante graphics scans?

email them to me at: fen2k@yahoo.com

No worries at all......I may continue with this project just to see how they come out but and may do afew cheap priced ones and see what happens.

sorry cannot help with the scans :D

Might be worth buying some originals to scan.....

Yeah discounts are nice but I would pay for some nice decals! I would like some Stadium Blitzer #58106 and Hi-Lux Monster Racer #58086 decals. Tamiya made a 1/10 200mm Cusco gas car body, that would be nice..
