I need to shorten some ESC wires and I don't have any bullet connectors handy. I have a bucket full of Deans connectors.

Any reason not to use them for the motor wiring instead of bullets? I can't think of one (other than the obvious don't be stupid and plug the battery direct into the motor or ESC by mistake).

I've used Deans as motor connectors before. If you are worried about mixing up battery, and motor connectors, I used to put the male plug on the motor, and the female on the speedo. That way if they part while running, there aren't any exposed terminals to short out. Also with having the male Deans on the speedo connector to the battery, you can't get them mixed up.

Hope this makes sense, and helps :D

The question should really be any reason to use bullets when I have Deans, the bullets have a much higher resistance. Just make sure you have one connector (ideally the male) on the ESC battery leads and the other connector on the motor wires so you can't ever connect it up the wrong way round.

Personally I always hard wire my motors and only use a plug in the battery leads.

I use 2 sets of deans on my old brushed No-Limit ESC and most of my TU101BK's (Some TEU101BKs are a perm fit and hard wired to the motor in chassis where it's very hard to get at the electrics like The Fox). One set between esc and battery and the other between motor and esc. I also have a square of velcro glued to the bottom of each esc so I can move it quickly from chassis to chassis. Same way around that retroman did his, female on the esc, male on the motor (Opposite to the battery/esc connection).

The stock bullet connectors are not much better than the Tamiya plug on the battery.

Yep, they stink! Hardwire or Deans :)

or use the gold plated ones.....Or use block connectors like me :) Actually I had an esc that had been hardwired to the motor and when the motor blew up, started smoking, I cut the leads close to the motor and block connected 2 wires with bullet connectors on. To think I use that on a hpi sprint with a 13turn motor, and the esc get HOT! I wouldnt reccom end it though.

Thanks for the ideas.

Hard-wiring not an option - I like to mess around with different motors a lot so I need quick interchange without a soldering iron :)

I'll run with the Deans....
