Might well be of interest to the Cider Bashers group. Mainly Bristol, Bath, Yeovil and Swindon based people...

Any idea of size and price (are you talking about per meet or an intial seet-up cost?)

Hi Shaun,

I'm interested, I live in the Kingswood area of Bristol, and I'm sure the rest of the Cider Bashers would be happy to pop along if the venue is made available to us ;)

Just a few thoughts - is it going to be on your own private land? You might need to check the law on public liability insurance etc... I think if no admittance fee is charged and people are invited as your personal friends then it's OK to be non-covered as a private party (up to a certain number of people on the site) - but I'm no legal expert. I think if you start charging an admittance fee then it becomes a public area and you'd need to have some kind of insurance cover. I may be entirely wrong but it's certainly worth looking before doing all the hard work laying the track - you don't want to spend six weeks digging for the men in suits to turn up and shut you down!

ISTR there is a purpose-built buggy racing track in the Mendip area (nr Cheddar?) but I think it's mostly nitros and is mainly just used by the racing club that owns it.

I don't think there's an electric buggy racing club in the south-west at all, you might get some interest if you planned the venture as a proper RC club, but also kept the track open for general visitors. I'm just about to get back into 1:10 touring car racing - just as soon as I've got rid of this stinking manflu!

Good to see someone looking into setting up an off road track, we at clumbermeets have been looking into this for a while as theres nothing in this area at all, its a shame as i think there would be a large demand for off-road fun racing event. i will keep a eye open for your progress and maybe come over when your up and running.
