Dual Hunter

Hi,

Pretty new to this, just got a dual hunter car. Could anyone tell me if I get the bigger battery packs eg 8.4 and 9.6 volts will it damage anything? Which other bodykits would fit easily (I dont mind if it means adapting it a bit...)?

The Twin Detonator body will fit, as will Wild Dagger and I think the Mighty Bison or something like that [2wd]. You could make the Blackfoot family of bodies fit and the TNX body is pretty close, just a bit longer. You could probably could make it work.

People have modified them to run 14.4 volts with a Traxxas ESC but you have to do something funky to the chassis to make it work. The battery slot will not allow a longer pack like an 8.4 volt.

I've been running my old Wild Dagger with a LRP 4600 NiMh 7.2v in, gives pretty good power and a much longer running time than the old Tamiya 1400 I got with it

the mighty bull body fits straight on. also look at the hpi or proline bodys as there are some great ones that will fit with a bit of work

Does the blackfoot extreme abs body drop right on or does it need the blackfoot body mounts?

If the Dualhunter mounts are like the Wild Dagger, they're different from the BFX. Aside from the metal rod used on the BFX front mount, I think the other mounts are probably on the same parts tree.

I have a Wild Dagger, which is the same as the Dual Hunter; apart from the shell. I am running 2x 14.4v GT550 HPI motors and 2x 7.2v battery packs. It was a little work, in that I had to dremel another battery slot above the 1st one. Other than that, the motors just screw in to replace the standard ones, and I bought the HPI dual motor ESC. Motors were 7 each and the ESC was 60. Speed wise it is just a bit slower than my brushless FD! Have just locked both diffs. Am looking fwd to getting it off road!
