rcjunkie3000 2 Posted January 9, 2009 Can someone provide a list of part numbers for the Optima Mid Chassis including the LWB Chassis? Also, did the Optima Mid long wheelbase version come in carbon fiber, FRP, and duralumin? If so what are the part numbers for each? For the Optima Mid SWB, what is the part number for the bronze colored chassis? Thanks!
terry.sc 16 Posted January 9, 2009 Mid used the 2mm alloy chassis OT-91 Turbo Mid, Turbo Mid SE used the 2.3mm alloy chassis OTW-3. Mid Special chassis was carbon, OTW-5, Mid Custom was alloy, OT-122 Mid Custom Special was FRP, also OT-122 as it was a production change. If you want a full list of part numbers they are in the manuals which are available on retromodelisme: Mid SE http://www.retromodelisme.com/manuels_page...-se-kyosho.html Turbo Mid http://www.retromodelisme.com/manuels_page...mid-kyosho.html Mid http://www.retromodelisme.com/manuels_page...mid-kyosho.html Turbo Mid Special http://www.retromodelisme.com/manuels_page...ial-kyosho.html Mid Custom Special http://www.retromodelisme.com/manuels_page...ial-kyosho.html

rcjunkie3000 2 Posted May 3, 2009 Did anyone purchase the Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid Special Conversion kit back in the day OR does anyone own one new in the box that they can check so I can compare it to my kit? I have what is supposed to be a NIB Turbo Optima Mid Special Conversion kit but the chassis is not carbon fiber. Mine was just flat black FRP material like the upper deck and shock towers. All the packages are sealed but the FRP parts have a white Kyosho sticker (looks like a price gun sticker) with a KYO part number and no header card. It is in a plastic bag with a staple. Were these kits updated later down the line and then they stopped including the carbon fiber chassis? The original price tag on the box says $99. Can someone shed some light on the history of these kits? Here are some photos. Click them for more detail. Thanks again.

INTEGRA FAN 12 Posted May 3, 2009 Hi terry To my information the Optima Mid Custom Special FRP chassis is OT128 not OT122 Mid used the 2mm alloy chassis OT-91Turbo Mid, Turbo Mid SE used the 2.3mm alloy chassis OTW-3. rcjunkie3000 2 Posted May 3, 2009 Thanks Did your conversion kit come with a carbon fiber chassis or FRP? Mine came with an FRP chassis so I was wondering.Did anyone else's conversion kit come without a carbon fiber chassis? I've seen other peoples conversion kti contents and all their parts have Kyosho Header cards unlike mine (see photos way above). Thanks again!
INTEGRA FAN 12 Posted May 4, 2009 the one we bought in mid 1989 came with the OTW5 the carbon fiber chassis, the same as the one you see in the brochure in my previous post. ThanksDid your conversion kit come with a carbon fiber chassis or FRP? Mine came with an FRP chassis so I was wondering.Did anyone else's conversion kit come without a carbon fiber chassis? terry.sc 16 Posted May 4, 2009 Hi terryTo my information the Optima Mid Custom Special FRP chassis is OT128 not OT122 Thanks I missed that. It should have read:Mid Custom Special was FRP OT-128, also OT-122 as it was also a production change on the Mid Custom. The conversion kit should have a carbon fibre chassis, with the carbon weave visible. rcjunkie3000 2 Posted May 4, 2009 Thanks for the input everyone. It looks like I got the FRP OT-128 chassis not the OTW-5 that the kit should contain. It's possible that the hobby shop back in the day replaced the original carbon fiber chassis with the FRP OT-128. I also got the upper deck in the same fashion; in a plastic bag with sticker and Kyosho part number as shown in the photos). I also noticed that my kit came with two instruction manuals, one of them reading Turbo Optima Mid SE Conversion Kit with a Hobbico 1988 date on the very bottom and had two FRP battery hold downs for 7-cell batteries sealed in a plastic bag also with a sticker with a KYO part number. I know these Turbo Optima Mid LWB conversion kits don't come up very often but how much would someone expect to pay for the actual conversion kit NIB that comes with the OTW-5 chassis? What was the going price back in 88-89? The conversion kit is complete to do a LWB conversion. Everything is sealed but it has the FRP OT-128 chassis, what would it be worth approx? The store price sticker at the time shows $99.
INTEGRA FAN 12 Posted May 5, 2009 the retail price of the OTW-4 (TURBO OPTIMA MID SPECIAL CONVERSION KIT) was $152, and was sold for the same price you mentioned around $99 we bought it in Kuwait for nearly the same price ($99)
INTEGRA FAN 12 Posted May 5, 2009 that is true terry, I bought my Optima Mid Custom Special and it came with the FRP chassis, and later I assembled many Custom Specials and all were with OT-122I prefer the OT-122 over the OT-128 Thanks, I missed that. It should have read:Mid Custom Special was FRP OT-128, also OT-122 as it was also a production change on the Mid Custom. The conversion kit should have a carbon fibre chassis, with the carbon weave visible.
