I'm currently running a LRP Truck puller & std pinions & esc, but would like a bit more torque & speed. Every now & then I snap a dogbone or shear a hex pin or something, so I don't want to be blowing the drivetrain every time I'm playing, but a bit more torque wouold help sometimes (traction permitting).

What's the current flavour of preference?

A Novak Goat (or similar) brushless crawler esc/motor combo should give you enough speed/torque to break driveline components on a more regular basis... :)

Looks nice, but it might have to wait until Santa's around again!

I'm usually pretty good at sniffing out answers on the web, (too much time on my hands working in IT?!) but this has got me stumped. I'm trying to find out some information on brushless crawler systems - that work well with 2 cell Li-Pos.

Does anyone know anything about the outrunner/inrunner 400 size brushless motors? They come in a bewildering array of Kv and Watt ratings, just not sure what's tried and tested - and with which ESC.

I know the Novak Brushless Crawler system is pretty much the cream of the crop, but it's a bit pricey for me when I have 3 trucks to kit out...

Any info to point me in the right direction would be much appreciated,

Cheers!

Tim.

I really do not see how you would need more torque than what you already have since you have enough torque to break parts in the drivetrain?

As you want it to work with the standard ESC, the GOAT and all other brushless systems are ruled out. Anyways, if max torque is your flavour, get a 75T Lathe motor and enjoy a shattered drivetrain.

For driveabilty, I would suggest you give the Tamiya CR-Tuned motor a try. While not as much torque as the Truck Puller, it still has more torque than most stock silvercans. At the same time its higher wound (35T) makes it slower than a stock silvercan. Price wise, it is a clear winner. Another option to consider would be Carson's line of motors. They too have a truck motor that is very cheap.
