I could tow it behind my TNX [;)]

I think I got my bmw TT-01 up to atleast 25+ mph with stock gearing and a 15t motor. I just ordered a set of Speed gears and a smaller pinion gear so... I will see what a difference if made.

Just one word of advice... Dont turn it into a 2wd, IT strips your gears and within a week!

So far, Ive fitted it with upgraded bearing and a 11t or 12t motor, but it only does 21mph.

Where do I get the speed gearing from???

I should imagine it would go a badword of a lot faster using an 11 or 12, what motor is it? If you want this sort of speed out of it, I would also suggest an alloy prop as the plastic one flexes plus an alloy motor mount and heatsink to keep the heat down.

Cheers Pushrod,

Im using a 11t or 12t Fireball.

Whats the difference between a modified motor and a stock motor?

Im guessing the brushless motors are fapping mental? whats the deal with them aswell???

You should be getting considerably more than 21mph with a 12 turn motor. I clocked my car with a 19 turn at 24 mph geared for indoors, not for top speed.

Lots of things to bear in mind when going for high top speeds with electric.

First of all, the Fireball motors are pretty cheap and don't produce as much power as a more expensive one.

Secondly, you need a good speed controller, good wiring (get rid of the rubbish Tamiya connectors) and decent, fully charged batteries that are actually going to supply the current needed at high speeds.

Your car transmission needs to be running smoothly - ball races and good maintenance are essential.

Gear ratio needs to be done right. I would guess that you are well undergeared right now. A decent 12-turn motor should be able to take a ratio around 6:1 overall on a big track. I would guess that a well set up 12-turn car/motor combo should hit 30-35mph without too much difficulty.

Brushless have the potential to produce a lot more power than a brushed setup - however the only widely available system is from Novak, which is only about as powerful as a 12 turn brushed motor, but with greater efficiency and zero maintenance.

i had a TT01 fitted with a 14x2t modded motor and it was an evil car everything was standard except the camber on front i had made from tao3 parts.

as for speed gear is a must also a good no limit esc, batterys could be 3000 upwards i would say the new 3600/3700 cells on the market. ballrace the whole car and clean the thick grease from the bearings too this will give the car a better roll.a motor that runs too hot will not work as well so good heatsink and air flow will help. also the shell of your car will want to be changed to a more aerodynamic form, tyres will want to be good too, better tyres the better hookup you will get.

brushless motors are good there is hardly no maintanace to do but they are the widow maker of gearboxes, a brushless setup is going to cause problems with gearboxs and spur- pinion also. once they are set up correct cars motor along at speeds nearly uncontrolable. in all brushless would be the way to go and with castlecreations now looking at bringing out a 1/10th mamba brushless system these will prople cars to beakneck speeds.

Sosidge,

When you say a gear ratio of 6:1. Is this 6 turns of the pinion geat to one turn of the spur gear?

Is there a gear conversion for the TT01? My car is fully ball raced.

Regarding the Connections, Im guess from what you said the Tamiya ones dont perform that well? Any suggestions on this??

I had a tt-01 with a 12 turns motor which did 30 MPH easily, even without speed tuned gear set... It's been stolen though :-(

You can buy gold tamiya style plugs and there are also other connectors available, believe they're called powerpole or something like that...
