Hi Folks,

I just bought a Tamiya car, the Overlander XB, after not having a RC vehicle in about 10 years. (Previously owned a TamTech on-road car in my youth, a Kyosho Scorpion and later a Tamiya 2WD Chevy S10).

I picked up the Overlander because it was cheap but still could be disassembled. I am hearing I should upgrade to real bearings but I am not sure where the bearings are needed and how many and what size. I was also considering upgrading to a Spot Tuned motor over the original 540J but don't know if it's worthwhile. Lastly, are there any other bodies that fit on this chassis?

I have looked over the forums but have found few threads about this particular truck, though if I understand correctly it is mechanically similar to the Blackfoot Extreme though I don't know if I can get all of the info I need on the assumption that the parts needed will be the same.

Anyways, if you can help me out I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

hi

its exactly the same as the extreme blackfoot mechanically.

so anything that works with the blackfoot is good for this too.

as to bearings

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tamiya-Blackfoot-Ext...A1%7C240%3A1318

if the link gets deleted search ebay for tamiya blackfoot extreme .theres only 2 hits.one being bearings.

do you have mechanical speed control or electric?

if you have mechanical throw it and get an esc instead.then get a hotter motor

if you have the standard tamiya esc then a sport tuned should work with it.

Hi and thanks for the info. I do have the ESC and will order a Sport Tuned once I get the bearing in. Any suggestions for what's next? I don't mind spending a bit upgrading this kit but don't want to go overboard as I would then consider getting a different car entirely.

the gpm alloy shock towers and emaxx/tmaxx shocks are popular.

but i think its starts to get a bit expensive here.you could then get uprated drive shafts, alloy arms and knuckles ,alloy chassis.

have a look at mine here

http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...4&sid=10679

it has the gpm shock towers and e/tmaxx shocks and alloy chassis.

i would try the motor and get the next pinion up,i think its a 21 tooth, and see how it goes.

your truck is also the same as the wild dagger, twin detonator, dual hunter but with out the front gearbox(needed for twin motors)

Right on, will look into what you suggested. I will likely stick to motor and shocks/mounts. What's the pick-up body on your chassis? Stock Blackfoot?

Is the 20 tooth pinion upgrade to provide improved acceleration?

hi

the 20 tooth pinion is more for top speed.

the body is stock blackfoot extreme.and should fit your truck too.

a king blackfoot body looks the same without bonnet vent ,but will not fit without drilling extra holes.
