I can tell you that there were two very similar stablemates, the Buffalo and the Bobcat. The motor supplied was the Magnum 360L and the kits were supplied assembled, although a once over with a screwdriver was still necessary. The shocks are all supposed to be horizontal and there is an upper deck quite similar to the Super Champ. The front has a mono shock.

Yours is a Buffalo because it has a spoiler. The wheels look wrong, but I will check. The release date I can't track down, but I would say 1985-88.

Here is an original advert for the Buffalo

Good luck getting more information on it!

First answer, AYK stands for Aoyagi Metals Company Ltd. I guess the english translation doesn't quite work.

The Buffalo was one the last 2wd buggies made by AYK, made in 1985 it shared its chassis with the Bobcat and Boxer.

All AYKs are very collectible, the rarer models are worth as much as Tamiya equivalents even though they are a niche make for vintage collectors.

The wheels and tyres fitted in the picture are from the Kyosho Beetle, the Goodyear logos on the tyres mark them as early versions, later Kyosho tyres had Sand Super on the sidewall.

Obviously there's a few of them in the showrooms.

Hi, I had a look in your showroom and it looks like your AYK car has got early Kyosho Scorpion tyres on it (with the square spikes and Goodyear lettering). Later Scorpions had Sand Super's on them.

...I was interested in the Buffalo advert as the tyres on the Buffalo in that advert look to be very much like the ones on the original RC10 box art ;-
