After watching a good vid on youtube of a Blitzer on a beach and with snow still laying in some areas not to mention fresh snow on the way...

Is there any areas on the avarage tamiya car that needs preping to take either on the beach or on the snow.

If people could state what model they have and what perperations did you make.

I have a TA02 which I use for rallying. To be sure no dirt enters the gearboxes I sealed the diff parts with silicon sealant. It's best not to use any grease outside the gearbox as it will only catch the sand/dirt. Rubber shielded/sealed ball bearings are the best choice although the normal metal shielded bearings will hold up if you don't run in sandy conditions constantly. As for snow, keep in mind the snow will get everywhere and may compromise the lubrication in all exposed moving parts, such as the bearings and motor. Make sure you keep as much snow as possible away from the electrics... :)

I find electrics are the most sensitive to snow or water in general, put your reciever in a balloon or something similar, if your not using a waterproof esc then put it in a box like a small tuppaware tub, ballraces will sufer over time if subjected to water and sand, clean them down when you get in then lubricate them. Motors will sufer greatly if running on sand, ive killed so many motors on sand, try to make a filter for the vents if you can, i use a couple of dirt tuned tamiya motors which come with a good filter to keep dirt out.

I've wrapped the TEU-101BK ESC in my King Blackfoot with tank tape for running in the snow, with great effect this week. Hasn't cut out once. The other option is to run a waterproof one, such as M-Tronics. Sealing everything, and using rubber shielded bearings is good advice, but sand is evil stuff, it gets into everywhere, and will make light work of munching through moving parts. Using foam to cover up openings in the motor is a good idea, or just run and wreck a silver can, as they are as cheap as chips. :)

i have a TA F150 rally truck that i use mainly. i live in a sandy area and the only mods i have done are plastic guards that act a wheel wells that were made out of a couple milk jugs. seems to keep dirt and stuff out of the tub in both forward and reverse.

i havent gotten much snow this year and my car is out of commition ATM.
