POLL NOW CLOSED, Bash on the Sun 22nd March.

Attention Cider Bashers and anyone who wants to bash in the Bristol Area!

It's time again for a Tarmac Bash in Bristol Our last tarmac bash at Hengrove Leisure Centre in late 2008 was a success (even if it was chilly), with a large, empty tarmac space perfect for touring cars, buggies and trucks, and best of all, a McDonald's restaurant just a short walk away, and should it unexpectedly pour with rain (or lately snow!!), a good bar, restaurant and even a cinema to keep us occupied.

This bash is open to anyone who can make it along to Bristol. Please vote for your preferred date; we will try to pick a date(s) that suits everyone. The general consensus seems to be that Sundays are preferable to most people so I have only included Sunday dates on the poll. Please only vote if you actually intend to come along!

(ps I love cut & paste, Cheers Mad Ax  )

Take care all

Matt

I put down for the 8th March because Alex isn't working and might actually make it along, hasn't been able to for ages!!

But I could make it (on my own) on either 1st or 22nd :)

Draggin is poorly. Again. I fixed her from mashing one of her front axles in the autumn at Poo-Be-Gone. And then took her for a run in the snow and immediately minced it once more! Hahaha. Now the very expensive Novak ESC has died and I have to send it off for fixing.

However I am working on making my Avante MkII slightly more interesting. You won't recognise it ;)

After admiring the photos of many bash's of the last few years, I have decided that 2009 is going to be my year for getting out there and driving my cars! Like most of us, I needed permission from the head of events booking she is more than happy - alternative would be ironing!

I am not exactly local, about 2 hours away but heh, it's only petrol! Also gives me a chance to do some charging, car has 2 charging points so happy with that! On the subject of charging, being a bit green to drving anywhere other than the local park or the back garden, what do most people do for power on a bash such as this?

I guess a lot of bonnets get opened and the cro clips come out? Anyone gone down the stand alone car battery route? I am thinking of building a case or trolley of some sort that would allow me to charge up out in the field when am away from 1:1 car! Something that can house a car battery and 2 chargers - have 2 twin battery trucks!

Any thoughts/tips?

Having said that, the only date I could make would be the 22nd March so hope this ok!

Hi Simon,

If you've got half a dozen charged batteries, that'd probably do you. By the time you chat, look at other people's cars, and mend breakages, the day goes so quick! Bring plenty of warm clothes (hat/gloves); McDonalds is only a few metres away but it gets blimmin cold very quickly at this time of year so munchies and a hot drink are a must.

Yes to the open bonnets for recharging :) and there are always tools to lend round plus spare screws/bolts etc.

Apart from when I smash something up, and then its terminal!!

Suzy

P.S. WHO CAN BUILD OR BRING A RAMP THIS TIME?

Thank Suzy for the welcome and I especially like your comment about terminal crashes! AKA, a chance to rebuild and make better! Warm clothes and lots of batteries, check. Excuse for a McDonalds, CHECK!

Don't forget Frankie and Bennys!!!! Yummy Pizza

My parents are called Chris and John (but "your mum" and "your dad" does work extremely well!) - They will probably arrive around the same time as Rich (richytanimal) if they all make it.

People meet from about 10 onwards. We normally arrive later than most as we come from South Wales and have to get the monster ready first.

All the best

Maxxy = Bullhead Killer! :rolleyes:

Hopefully I will have done the video's before the next meet!

Voted for the 22nd of March as it gives me some time to strip / rebuild all the cars as they desperately need it. plus I should have Maxxy all sorted by then... :)

again, i'm a possible for this, if there is a way of getting from bath for me, but i wont vote for a date, as i'm only a maybe. it will be a gravel hound and a 60mph+ rc18t clon(60mph for under 100! ) i have a distinct lack of batteries, so i might get a couple more.

Hi Folks ! Looks like I might be able to make the 22nd as well, hopefully it will have warmed up a bit by then......

Word of warning...

Just been told by my parents that the area for bashing has been reduced by contractors building work.

If anyone can get there and take a peek it would help a lot (I'm too far away in South Wales) as we need to ensure there is enough space to play.

If all else fails, anyone recommend another bash site in Bristol? We have more interest than usual and would be nice to meet so many new faces.

I went past there last Saturday, there were workmen and vans etc parked where we normally go. I will probably go near there this weekend so will have another look. There is a trading estate the opposite side of the dual carriageway with an empty unit/cark park, I took my Grasshopper there a few weeks ago and have a vid at

if that helps.
