Jonny Retro 12 Posted February 21, 2009 I have a 42 square metre dedicated hobby room with custom Schulte shelving. I can recommend this solution to anyone.Paul. Meanwhile, back in Real Street where most of us only have one end wall in a single bedroom to use ... I recommend at trip to B&Q for a couple of their "B&Q Metal 5 Tier Adjustable Shelf Chrome effect" units (on sale at 28 each), a bit of hardware to fix them to the wall at the top, and a load of plastic boxes
loaded 4 Posted February 21, 2009 My reply was supposed to be somewhat tongue in cheek, in that the hobby requires a lot of space, so you need to make room for those boxes. On reflection, reading it a second time, I do come across as somewhat gittish, a character flaw that is being pointed out not for the first time. The Schulte shelves are great though. P. tamiya monkey 223 Posted February 21, 2009 I can only dream of a hobby room, i have to hide mine on top of the wardrobe, by order of the wife lol.
taliesin 260 Posted February 21, 2009 our house has a "breakfast nook" that is sunny, well lit and entirely too small for our kitchen table and chairs. oddly enough it fits my work table, one chair and one entire wall of adjustable shelving - now filled with Tamiya models and parts. my tool box sits behind me. i couldn't believe my wife suggested that i use it as a modeling room - but i didn't waste any time arguing with her, i'll tell you that. Olly_Lunchbox 27 Posted February 22, 2009 I've had to get up into the loft. It's nice and peaceful but my face has taken on a very pallid tone due to tha lack of sunlight.
Origineelreclamebord 45 Posted February 22, 2009 I managed to put 12 cars, plus two in spares plus more spares in my 12-15 square metre room. I have three cars in my two display cases. On top of the display cases are almost all my boxes (most of them are filled with spares, full cars in parts and two cars that I am not planning to use for an unknown amount of time), one on top of my computer, one on top of my TV, two on a book shelf, two on top of my desk and one on my stack of boxes. I also have an RC plane hanging from my cealing. And last but not least, I had two cables running across the cealing with spotlights on it, but I replaced them for other lights. I kept the cables and now my spare bodies (NIP and used) and my NIP spare/hopup parts hang up there in bags - works great And best of all, sometimes it just feels like entering a hobby store with all those cars on display, parts hanging in bags and lots of boxes stacked on top of my display cases... loaded 4 Posted February 22, 2009 A Velux window, some insulatation and plaster board and you are there! I have a money saving idea too! I bought ten Persil washing powder packs (bear with me...) that came with free conditioner, colour wash gel AND all in a very nice closeable plastic stackable box. I bought 10, well after all, Persil doesn't go off. At least I hope not, I have 60 kilos of it in my house. Paul.

loaded 4 Posted February 22, 2009 Lol, when my wife saw me come home with all this stuff, she nearly went mental! Imagine what she would think if your dirty drawers came through the post? I tried to tell her that it was a good thing, that we had saved money, I would be able to get rid of stuff whilst organising spares (yeah right!) and we would have plenty of washing powder. She sported that doubtful look I have seen so often on my fair lady. P.
Jonny Retro 12 Posted February 22, 2009 ... well after all, Persil doesn't go off. At least I hope not, I have 60 kilos of it in my house. You have 60 kilos of unidentified white powder at your house? That could be very difficult to explain, under the wrong circumstances
loaded 4 Posted February 22, 2009 This has been covered before, how do you explain the funds to buy the kits and the white residue on the tyres. How on earth do you think I get the stuff in in the first place? This might be beyond the line for a family website, so I had better shut up. P.
rotor 0 Posted February 23, 2009 Mine are all sort of spread out around the house. I have some in the garage, on any shelf i can find there, others are sitting on a couple of bookshelves in the living room . I have told the g/f that i want to remove the pictures / flowers etc from the mantle piece and put a few more there. All my boxes are piled up on the spare bed in the spare room, hopefully no one wants to come and stay soon. Then i have some at the moment sitting in the lounge room in boxes ready to be sent out

TA-Mark 195 Posted February 23, 2009 My wife rarely makes visits to the the RC workshop. Deliver coffee and food would be her main reason to venture into my crazy world. Glad she's never mentioned those 2 scary words 'tidy up'. I like my organised chaos LOL. Must say I am running out of display shelf space however with my 3 new aquisitions today thanks to Mr Scollins 2nd Rally Escort, Focus RS and the Ford F-150 TA-02. 3 great vehicles in perfect condition with some very nice extras.... I wonder if the crystal glasses can go in storage and I can use the display cabinet in the dining room.... Hahahaha... I'm not asking her
