the inside of my delta shell is painted, i was going to use brake fluid and a tooth brush to strip the paint back and i really dont want to wreck it...

Nitro fuel is the best stuff to use on lexan. Brake fluid might damage the shell. Whether it works or not will depend on the type of paint that is on the shell. If proper PS type paint was used then it won't come off.

Use brake fluid on hard shells, although caustic oven cleaner is easier to use and often gives a better result.

Brake fluid and caustic soda oven cleaner WILL destroy the lexan. I have heard of people using these to remove paint from lexan shells, but if left in direct contact with lexan not covered in paint for any period of time, they will destroy the lexan (it will cloud and become brittle). Use at your peril.

SOME paints can be removed with nitro fuel. A higher percentage of nitro works better, at least 20%. This is the safest way, so try this first.

There is no known way to remove Tamiya PS paint safely, apart from sanding it back and then buffing out the sanding scratches.

Buying a new shell is going to be the easiest route.

As an alternative: if you are unable to strip the paint from the inside or if the shell clouds up - you could always use the correct paint and simply paint the outside of the shell. apply decals on top of the paint.

not an ideal solution but it beats chucking a less than perfect shell in the bin.
