If you want to race then race, just don't expect them to change the rules they have run to for years just to suit you.

It's a club. You will be put in a suitable heat and you will get as much running time as everyone else so everyone has an equal chance of qualifying. The only way you are going to get less time is if you don't bother racing.

Pardon me but the silver can rule was suggested by the original poster for this 'special non club event' (whom I thought was the organiser initially), I was not suggesting that I change Macc' club's rules to suit me as I didn't realise until later on that this was going to be run with the Macc. club, I thought at first that it was going to be completely separate from the Macc. club.

Frankly it's all getting a bit troublesome and difficult to follow, as well as exasperating. Also I am finding the constant criticism of my suggestions to be tiring.

Cheers,

ARG.

Regarding mixing buggies in one race, personally I have to race against a mix of a DF03s, Schumacher Cougar, Mardave Cobra and Meteors, B4s and a Hornet every week with my vintage Cougar and Lazer. No matter what the age of the buggy they all get in the way due to the differing driver ability, not the chassis.

This is all starting to sound very familiar i.e. more and more competetive! Wasn't expecting such serious racing! Was more thinking along the lines of a fun vintage racing day with everyone having silver can motors and a wide variety of interesting vintage buggies.

Just my thoughts.

I suppose I could really finally decide it for you by pointing out that race fees at Macctrack are £6 a day. If you want to race regularly the membership fees are £25 + £12 BRCA membership which gives you a £1 discount on the race fees. Macctrack aren't interested in creating a separate buggy class to please you, they are desperate for more racers as they are running at a loss right now. Strangely enough it's in my best interest to keep them running as my club has more drivers than we can cope with and don't need any more coming down if they shut the club.

Oh nuts. 6 quid plus 25 plus 12 or something, this is sounding a bit much? I thought this was a free vintage fun racing day not a full blown racing club day with fees and stuff.

My mistake.

Sorry Terry but if we are going to be mixing vintage and B4's then it's not making much sense to me. Might as well just run a B4 or Losi XXX. I don't think my Frog would stand a chance or be worth running, or even be interesting to run, with my Frog on it's silver can against a B4 with 6 T brushless.

Vintage is the wrong word to use for the class really. There is big gap in performance and handling between vintage scale buggys and vintage competition buggys.

The 'vintage' class we run here is for more about scale buggys. Ones that look like thier 1:1 counterpart. They must have the driver figure fitted and use the kit wheels. The more modelling detail added the better.

We allow any motor, with good reason:

1. You've gotta be able to control all that power in a buggy with quirky suspension and handling.

2. The drivetrain has to be able to cope with power you are pushing at it to complete the race.

3. Traction is a major issue when using vintage kit tyres. More power = much less grip.

Most guys are faster with a silvercan/TEU-101BK because they spinout less.

Turn up here with a vintage RC10 (or any other vintage comp buggy) with a 10 turn motor and you will be put into the modern 2WD mod class, not the vintage 'scale' runners.

If the Macc. track club had enough guys/cars to make up another class I'm sure they would. We do here.

An excellent suggestion Mark, very good thinking. I agree with all of that. Except for the unlimited motor part. I would prefer all the vintage scale buggies to be limited to silver cans. Or Super Stock / 19 turn if people preferred.

Would be happy to see this implemented at a 'local' track.

Frog versus Gallop MK2!

Optima versus RC10!

If it was held outdoors on an improvised dirt track I would be happy as well, and that might remove the need for BRCA membership fee, club joining fees, Race day fees and so on.

Ok people lets clear some things up here.

1) No motor limit has been agreed as to many people are running different motor combos so we thought his is best for everyone. If enough people turn up with vintage /scale buggies with 540 cans we will sort a class to keep it fair.

2) this is not an april fools prank we are trying to keep the club alive and do what we can to please all that attend. im sorry that the dates change but other commitments come first. the date is set as mentioned before and it will go ahead.

3) so far we have had a good number of people asking about this day vintage/scale and modern i dont care if only 5 vintage turn up as we are running the race day anyway for all other drivers (buggy only) we need to help keep this club alive and this might give it the upper hand in doing so.

4) the fees are there for a reason so £6 non members we start at 9am and should be finished for about 4ish.

this is out first vitage/scale buggy day here so please bare with us we dont who or what amounts will turn up we hope at least 20 inc modern.

So stop *****ing and moaning about this and that and show up who knows u might have fun:)

thanks for the support. Rob

All i want to do is race my RC10!

I'll probably be completely rubbish but just want to give it a go, I'm happy that the 540 rule has been dropped as i don't really have any spare without taking them off other cars and think i could handle a little more speed, I would probably run a 19t that i run in my touring car, i'd change my vintage novak T4

speedo though.

But, seeing as I'm working on the next date I can't make it, so back on the shelf it goes.

maybe next time.

Hi, did anyone here from TC go to this meeting on the 19th? Just wondering as 1 week on and no one has said anything B) ?

Did the Macc club members run mostly vintage stuff or was it just a normal club meeting with very little vintage stuff being run?

Or did a load of people turn up with vintage cars and use them but no one has any stories to tell? Or no one from Macc club knows about this forum?

Just curious how it went, as regards a "vintage" meeting ?

Any info. would be gratefully received.

Cheers,

Alistair G.
