Hi Big Jag,

Thanks for your post...No one has turned up to a meeting with a Clod yet; not sure it would fit under the transponder loop. But if you have an old buggy, you'd be more than welcome to join us. The racing is nothing too serious, but close and good fun due to the silver can motor limit.

The VLB meeting was suggested as a bit of fun - think most of us will be rolling around on the rostrum laughing our heads off.

If you're interested in coming along we'll be racing every Saturday until September, send me a PM and we can have a proper chat.

Cheers

I've only just got the Grasshopper 2 up and running. Can't seem to find it's shell however. Anyone have a spare? My Clod is waiting for some bits from the states so is in bits itself. Will hopefully be getting a Hornet up and running in the next couple of days too. I'm planning on adding a couple of other models soon. Including a Lunchbox. So when everything is up and running I shall definetly pay a visit. Have fun in the mean time.

Thanks

Cheers Jag,

GH2 shells can be a bit hard to find - as an alternative, how about a Fire Dragon? It fits straight on.

Hopefully we'll have some camcorder footage from today's meeting - I'll make sure I get it posted here on TC.

Look forward to seeing you at Hinckley in the near future - until then good luck with your projects.

Jag,

There is a complete body set in Japan, but that's a bit costly - you'll just have to keep a look out.

Got my lunchbox this morning. Been having some fun with it this evening. Interesting vehicle. Gathers speed rather than just shooting off with a squeeze of the trigger. Mkaes a whining sound when starting off too.

How did the Lunchbox race at the weekend go? Is it happening again? I may attend this weekend.

Hi Jag,

The Lunchbox racing last week went really well despite the bad weather delaying things - we got a turn out of four Lunchboxes, but expect more with better weather as many people wisely stayed home and I wasn't racing just taking photos. You can see some of the photos in my showroom Hinckley Retro Racers Lunchbox Racing. The first Lunchbox retired after the first heat with a broken bodymount before I even got there with the camera. As you will see the new builds hadn't even had time for painting!

Racing is definately on for this Saturday and the weather forecast looks good - bring the 'Box and we'll have some fun as I'll be racing this week too.

BTW The whining sound from the gearbox doesn't sound right. The gearboxes are usually silky smooth and the van should pop wheelies from a standing start. They accelerate pretty quickly - just with no steering as the front wheels are in the air. I'd double check you've got everything working right in the gearbox. Any problems bring it along and we'll sort it out.

See you there!

Hi, Be good to see you and your retro race cars. The racing is good fun and good natured so as for racing the Nikko Dictator I expect it'll be fine. It's certainly OK with me - aslong you don't beat us with it!! :)

Hi Guys,

We're hoping to see a few new Tamiyaclub faces at the Retro Racers this Saturday. We're getting more people interested in joining us and joining in the fun at the Hinckley club. It will be great to see everyone down at the track for some fun and friendly retro racing. The club aims to start racing at about 12.45pm Saturday afternoon and get the finals raced by about 5pm. Aim to be there for 12o'clock to check in if you're racing. If you just want to come along for a look then we'll see you there - we're a friendly bunch - come and say hello!

I am hoping to be there this coming Saturday.

I'll definitely be there this Saturday. Had to miss last week because of my Dad's birthday (the selfish sod.

I'll bring the Lunchbox again but after it disgraced itself last time I'll probably run the Madcap - first time in anger.

Looking forward to it, see you tomorrow!

Anyone in two minds about coming don't be - it's brilliant fun just come along!

OK guy's - lets go racing!!

Expecting a good turn out - thanks for all the emails - see you down at the track in a while.

Even though I was stood next to you when you had a wheel problem, seeing the pictures has made me laugh again

Absolutely mate - only thing that got a bigger laugh was when I got my Willy out!! ( Had I better re-write that differently?? )
