Ok, here we go...........I sold my scorcher bodyshell on Ebay earlier in the week and the auction was sniped in the dying moments by a chap from germany with only 2 points. He paid for the item straight away and didn't wait for me to send him an invoice including shipping from the UK, so he only actually paid the final auction price. I sent him a seperate paypal invoice for the cost of the shipping and an Email saying that he's not paid the full amount and can he pay the shipping seperately. I've not heard anything back off him all week. I've sent him a paypal reminder and also contacted him through Ebay, but still had no reply. To be honest i'm fed up chasing him and told him in an Email if i don't hear from him by friday i'll refund him and offer it to the next highest bidder. Do you lot think i'm being an ******* over this?, i'm certainly not going to post it for free. What are your thoughts - any suggestions?

I've had the same thing happen when selling stuff on ebay.

I won't bore you with too much detail but a guy from Sweden bought some vintage Transformers I was selling despite the fact my lot was only listed on U.K. ebay. He had less than 5 feedback, paid immediately but obviously only paid for the shipping I'd quoted within the U.K.

I did the same as you, sent him half a dozen emails with no responses. I toyed with the idea of just sending it and taking a small loss on the postage but was talked out of it by my other half.

Long story short his money sat in my paypal account while I was trying to get assistance from ebay and Paypal (who were both useless) and I never heard from him again. I eventually tried to refund his payment after a couple of weeks but it wouldn't go through.

I still check his ebay id from time to time but he's had no activity since that day!

Actually, I just read this back and it doesn't really help you but it reminded me! :)

I guess all you can do is keep mailing him or ask ebay for guidance. Does leave you a bit stuck as to what to do though.

This is the exact opposite to what has happened to me. I did ask 5 times for the correct postage and was told the domestic postage everytime... so I paid what he asked, now he wants the difference. This is a German seller too.

I don't think they bother to read the information in front of their face on the screen, because it does say it on the invoice page for the buyer that the postage needs to be requested before you pay so the invoice can be updated (which I did 5 times).

eBay and Paypal have been no help at all for me so far in either getting the item or a refund. The only option it seems I have is to loose the $80AU I've already paid or pay the extra $105AU (**** exchange rates) so he will post it. $185 for a set of plastic wheels is a bit over the top I feel.

I aggree, i don't think people read the listing properly. I did add to the listing description that international bidders contact me first for a shipping quote, and in fairness 90% of people do. i really do think i'll offer it to the next highest bidder and then refund the chap in germany - i'm not worried about getting negative feedback off him, but at the same time i feel a little bit bad about offering it on, but at the end of the day this stalemate is just wasting peoples time. On the other hand, Ebay has got more than it's fair share of people who try it on - and people who just dont get how it works! so maybe i should just offer it on, post the shell out and close the sale and move on. His other 2 sales have been within germany so this sale appears to be his first international one. For me, common sense would have been to hold back and wait for the sellers instructions if i had any doubts about what i was doing.

Very frustrating!

It's odd that he has paid, at least it shows he is not a scammer.

If he only has two other feedback then he clearly is new to eBay and I'd be inclined to give the benefit of the doubt. He (or she) probably hasn't got a complete grasp on how this new fangled ebay thingy works yet.

You've done as much as you can so I think I'd refund and contact the second highest bidder. Chances are the second highest bidder hasn't found another body yet because they don't come up that often.

If the original buyer kicks off you can just point out that you sent him emails and actually you can do the same if ebay get on your back about it.

Handy tool for dealing with people from a different language and you don't speak their language well. Send the email in both languages. It's not prefect but you can atleast make sense of what is being said.

I would go through a dispute with ebay it takes time but at the end of it you will be able to re-sell the item. Ebay, when its good its good and when its bad its very very bad indeed. We should be happy to be able to sell stuff internationally in the old days this was simply not possible to normal people of the world.
