Who would be interested in custom parts?

Recommended Posts

I know someone who has a CNC machine that can scan and cut from aluminum almost any part with his machine.

He builds race car parts and I thought I would ask him to make me some Thundershot hubs, control arms, and maybe a whole chassis and shock tower mount.

How many people would be interested in this? I know he has alot of times on his hands since it's winter.

Of course he would need the part of dimensions of it to make the part for you.

Let me know.

Mike

Fantastic idea.

I think two definates that would sell like hot cakes would be the Lunchbox and Midnight Pumpkin body mounts, these are notourius for breaking easily and are **** hard to replace, plus they would look extra cool in polished aluminium!

Do you reckon your contact could make some of the E-pars for the Porsche 959? They are the small white parts and are in the most delicate positions (they act as the stearing links and hold the front suspension together. I can send him a spare set of the originals so he can copy them directly.

He's located in Columbia, PA (USA) unfortunately for some of you. I haven't been able to get down to his shop lately. I will try for next week though since I'm visiting my family this weekend.

The only problem would be he would need a sample to scan into the CNC machine. He told me he can build me custom parts for my race car (a 2000 Honda Civic Si), so these parts shouldn't be a problem. He's shown me other parts he has built for other people.

Metal steering knuckles for every car would be handy... especially the notorious ones like 959, Hotshot/Boomerang etc.

I measured up some Scorcher and Super Champ posts a while back, if anyone wants the drawings, they're in;

You'll need autocad 2000 or something that can read .dwg files.

Just check before making whether the dimensions are inches or millimetres - it makes a difference[:D]

I'd like some custom axles and axle tubes for a Clod. What do you need to work from?? I could draft up some concept drawings if need be. Also I'm working on a pretty long time frame, I'd like to have the project completed around August or so.....

why does it suddenly seem like we're back in the old west, walking into a ghost town with nothing but a slight breeze and tumble weeds around??? I get the feeling these folks left town a long time ago.

1. Front brace for Thundershot

2. Suspension arms Thundershot (f+r are the same)

3. Hornet/Grasshopper/Lunchbox front susp arms (the a-arms)

4. Spindles/Steering knuckles for the standard tamiya knuckles, as you know the axle will slide out of these. These will fit most Tamiya 2wds, so would be very popular indeed.

5. rear susp. arms for Blackfoot/Frog/Brat
