small update... started on the inner fenders.

Very nice but why remove the fenders? They just look so ugly without them, at the most just trim them but for me removing them is a massive noo

still thats one nice looking bug you have.

Because that is what a volksrod is!

The chassis is a tamiya srb - sand scorcher/ranger/rough rider. But I am not sure on the body either - going to hazard a guess at a cheap toy as I dont know of any others with an oval rear.

Anyway - looks great!

Your wheel and tyre choice is spot on - on all of your projects

There's only one issue with this car at the moment really... It's wheelbase/front suspension. I guess you wouldn't see a VW with such a wheelbase and it's original front suspension... If it has such a wheelbase I think a tube axle* looks better, or you should shorten the wheelbase...

*I don't know if it's the right name, but I mean these: Reference 1, Reference 2 (on a bug)

If you've ever seen proper Volksrods in the metal most of them have wider, custom front suspension for better performance and looks.

I think the wider stance suits it, as does the position of the front axle in relation to the bonnet - looks spot on for a rod ;)

hang on a mo - I thought Id seen one before - its a Maisto shell, they do them either R/C with an MP3 player in them - respect for chopping one up lol ;)

Great project, look forward to seeing it come along.

What are you using to build the inner wings? At first glance it looks like card board which is fine for shelf queen and limited use.

Like I said tho great project ;)

another great looking project from yourself, your work just seems to get better and better. been so temped to open my vintage large scale revell vw kit to do the same. looks like i've found another source for a shell.

I think the prvious wheels (and especially tires) did look a bit better, but I guess they were not really suhited for running? ;) Very, very nice car though, did you try to enter one of your cars in the RCCA yet? If DeeMiller can get his rides featured, why not yours too?
