Hi I am just about to take up racing again using my "Works" Astute which now sports a TTC transmission. I will be running old school modified motors (around 10 x 2 / 11 x 3) and Trak Power 4900 Lipos. I need some advice regarding a starting point for a pinion size to suit the TTC? It is running the standard spur and the car is fitted with 2.2 rears, so essentially for gearing purposes it's a Super Astute.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

Can't help directly, but Associated give an FDR of 11:1 as a starting point for an 10 turn motor in a B4, so if you work out the internal ratio (diff gear divided by the layshaft gear) and divide 11 by that number it should give you a starting point for the primary gear ratio.

Thanks Terry, I have had some good feedback from Nokemyster, he suggests a 24t pinion for 14 x 2 so I'll start at 23t and see where I go from there.

I run a TTC in my King Cab. I use the Dark Impact hop up pinions set, which fits the spur. The 23T sounds perfect to start with.

I decided to leave the brushed motors for my bashers, I've fitted an LRP Sphere ESC / X11 7.5T brushless combo into the Astute  so I've dropped to a 22 tooth for starters.
