Thanks for the comments guys and thanks to TA-Mark for help with the shocks

When i sprayed it the first few times i thought the Hummbrol Grass Green was going to come out two bright but i was happy with the results. The wheels were surprisingly easy to spray as i thought the spray would not get in deep enough or pool and run down the edges. Now as i say i am trying to decide what to get next payday :P

I see plastic bushes in those front wheels! If this is a runner I highly recommend a $12 set of bearings from Walawala bearing store on eBay.

DF-02/DF-03 front dampers (not the longer rears) fit the Lunchbox well too.

wolfdogstinkus they are 85mm ansmann shocks front and back

TA-Mark it has a full set of metal bearings including the wheels and thanks again for the help with the shocks :P

Wish i didn't have to go to work today so i could take it out for a spin :o

I've got those Ansmann shocks on my new build LB (photos to come later this week), 2 x 95mm and 1 x 85mm (3rd) on the rear and 75mm (from memory) on the front - looks a bit nose down but they work really well so far.

I think any deviation from boxart on a lunchbox is to be applauded ... but your scheme could do with a few more highlights IMO - so I played around with the stock LB decals for you ...

PM me with an email addy if you want the higher res version.

;)

Love the stickers mate :(

I was going to do more work on the body but was side tracked in coverting one of my cellers into a home cinema. Might get another Luncbox body and really go to town on it ;)

Have PM'd you for a high res version

Have found some injet clear A4 sticker sheets on Ebay :P

I've sent you what I've got - it's not as high res as I would have liked, but that's down to the quality of the source file :(

Love the green! It looks great with the clean, simple graphics. Very classy.

Now go get it dirty and put a few scratches on the lid to show how much you love it. :)

Hopefully i will get chance soon as i have that annoying four letter word thing that tends to get in the way WORK hopefully i will be getting out this Sunday and take both the Lunchbox and Pumpkin out along with my camera May even let my other half have a go at driving one as i think she secretly wants to have a go :P so they could be more scratches than i hoped for :);)

Well finally it was a fun day today

1) Camera decided that it would flatten its battery after a few pictures

2) Classic Midnight Pumpkin's Battery finally gave its last cough after five minutes of running

The Lunchbox put a big grin across my face and made me feel five years old again. Some people think about getting one but are concerned about how it drives or handles, just get one its a laugh a minute. Also a word of warning though its a complete magnet for kids as a small girl who was playing football with her parents was totally fascinated with watching it and a couple of young lads ignored their big brother and came running towards me and my girlfriend like possessed mini demons. I did notice one thing though the green paintwork made it disappear against the field, thank god for the big black tyres :(

That LB looks great and I like body colored wheels. I may go green with my blackfoot extreme when I get to that stage in build up.

I almost decided to get a LunchBox, but figured it would be to "flip happy" under my inexperienced hands lol.. So that is why I went with the wider wheel base of a blackfoot... Easier to drive I think.

Great 1st build, you should be really chuffed! Loving the green wheels too!

Did you let the missus have a go...?!

She was driving my classic Midnight Pumkin but the original battery decided to give up the ghost after three minutes so i will have to get a new one. She had a go at driving it and enjoyed herself alot  . The Ansmann racing aluminium dampers smoothed the ride out. I was very chuffed with how the wheels turned out as i thought the spray paint may run and pool inside the rims. The entire body and wheels had four coats of clear spray so it had no marks on it. Not sure what to go for next, but i will not be painting it the standard colours and i am going to order some clear injet sticky sheets so i can custom the decals myself. Just hope i have enough cash this payday as i have to get myself a replacement mobile off ebay & take my GF and step kids for a meal. May just stick with this naff nokia and get another kit :P Want something very fast and can handle grass any ideas anyone ?

Eric2.5 when your finished let me know how it handles ? The green i used is Humbrol matt grass green acrylic spray, the first coat looks a bit too bright but after a couple of coats it goes a nice dull colour

Lunchbox now in my showroom but for some reason isn't on the homepage

Pic here seeing as how we're showing off new builds:

Had a thrap up and down the street earlier on to gauge how it runs. What a blast! Managed to get the hang of trying to steer it after 15 mins or so.

Next up: stiffer springs (already got em) on the front to stop it wallowing around in reverse, and improve the handling into a corner. Have seen those "heavy duty" steering kits on ebay, might give it a whirl (anyone tried one?) to see if that offers any improvement. Need to tape up the tyres inside and foam them I think. Chassis brace on the front, and a bigger wheelie bar. Might go to Superstock BZ at some point too...

Great fun.

All of the chassis that use these front arms bottom the suspension out in reverse. Harder springs don't solve it, just makes the front bounce.

Posted

Best way to make these things steer better is to lower the front suspension so the tyres sit flat, toe out the front wheels to increase steering lock and response, and ditch the stock tyres for some after market rubber :P

Your lunchie looks awesome though, nice work!

Posted

Cheers Ed. Toe out though? That's a new one, I'll give it a bash tomorrow. Must admit these things don't have much steering lock to start with!

And yes, I did roll it first time out... :P
