I've been planning to build a fully hopped-up 3-Racing TT01 for about a year now, and planned to start with the graphite conversion. However, I've just read a review that states that it extends the wheelbase and your shell no longer fits - I have already cut the shell I intended to use and already have the paint scheme all sorted out for it to match the anodised blue ally parts that I'll be using.

Any thoughts on the chassis? Is it worth the money for a shelfer? I'm a big fan of the good old TT01 and wanted to make an ultimate tribute for the shelf :)

Honestly if you want a flashy car that will really perform buy an older Xray or Hot Bodies car. I was able to pick up a local guys spare T2,007 for less than it could have cost to fully upgrade a TT01. It's an awesome car and will annihilate a TT01 in pretty much ay situation you put it in. :D

shelfer = yes cos it looks awesome - though do check with 3 racing to make sure the bodies fit.

runner = no, cos it makes no difference/not enough difference to performance.

Fair point, but it's not for racing or even running - it's to sit on the shelf looking cool :D

I just love building street-style cars and the TT01 is the perfect chassis for them, but I kinda like each chassis I build to be different :)

I've been planning the 3-racing build for ages but didn't realise the wheelbase was different, I might have to find another shell for the project. I suppose I just have to buy and build to see how close it matches ;)

Anyway, might all be academic 'cos since yesterday I've found myself hankering for a Pajero anyway and can't afford both this month! :D

Where is this review that says the wheelbase is different? The chassis kit uses the standard TT01 propshaft, so the diffs are the same distance apart. This means the shock mounts and suspension parts will also be set at the same wheelbase as standard, so no difference in wheelbase.

One feature the TT01E has is that you can build it with either 251mm and 257mm wheelbase, maybe in the review they built it with the rear wishbones swapped round to give the alternative wheelbase?

Here it be :

(the one and only review on the item so far)

It's possible it wasn't built correctly, I don't know much about them and was suddenly thrown by the suggestion that it increases the length. Since my project will be a shelfer, I'd like it to look perfect :D

Thanks for the help :(

According to that 'review' I would suggest that his example has too much end float in the propshaft due to the gearboxes being slightly further apart, so the wheelbase ends up a millimetre or two longer. If that is the case and you need it to be exactly the same then a bit of filing of the uprights and some washers would fix it easily.

Bangin', cheers Terry

(see, this is why it's always good to get a second opinion rather than believing everying I read on the internet  )

I have the 3 Racing CF Chassis and yeh its acually quite good few down points ,if you dont put a plastic cover on the bottom it scratch's very easy and the pinion and spur are exposed so small stones and dust can get in there and damage them. but for puting on the shelf and geting hopups for it its very good
