Standard Tamiya connector, TEU-101BK(standard tamiya ESC), ansmann 18T motor

The battery connection is becoming too hot to touch after a few minutes runtime, model is a Mad Bull.

What is the usual cause for this?, bad connection?

I also have a pumpkin with a 19T peak racing motor and this is running fine and cool with the standard Tamiya ESC,

I did try a search as I have seen this subject come up before but I couldn't find any relevant information,

Please help.

Yes, bad connection. I've seen the Tamiya plugs melt completely from it using only silvercan motors.

It's common with Tamiya plugs. I cut them off and solder on ribbed High Volt plugs instead (Deans). Never an issue then. The ribbed ones are much easier to get apart than regular deans.

They would work, but very easy to get the polarity backwards which has dire consequences. Crimped ends still do corrode. I don't use them on my 1:1 cars, prefer to solder wires.

The standard Tamiya connectors are useable when new, but over time the tubes start to spread which gives a bad connection. This causes it to overheat and if you leave it long enough one day you will find it has melted together. Fitting a new Tamiya connector will fix things, but long term the best solution is to replace them with decent connectors like Deans or Powerpoles.

Thanks terry.sc, I noticed the other day that the tubes were not connecting properly and when I connected the plug it had actually pushed the wire out of the plug on the ESC side, time for a new connection me thinks,

Many thanks for your replys. ;)

Changed the connection for another tamiya one that I had and all is well!, Thanks again for helping.
