Right guys need some help as im stuck. Rebuilt the lads blackfoot. New motor, radio gear, battery and speed controller. Although the only problem is when i plug everything in im not getting, anything. Not even the motor if i move the servos myself. Everything is brand new i cant understand it. Hopefully a couple of pics with this. Any ideas?????????

looks ok for the small pics. You need a multimeter, that will help you troubleshoot. I am guessing its the speed controller.

Thats what i thought so i bought a new one this morning. All the electrical equipment is brand new and i cant understand why it doesn't even turn the motor when i move it manually (even after i have swapped the motor wires round.

If you touch the motor connectors to the battery direct, does it spin?

That would then point to the speed controller.

i have just wired in a 4xAA supplement battery pack and now all the servos work but the motor doesn't spin either way connected up and its the same with the old motor, they dont spin up but everything else is working.

Still points to speed controller then.

i know, im going to hook up the old one in a min and see if that makes a difference, really frustrating when you know you have replaced everything.

ok cool.

could be the resistor unless you have manual moved the speed controller to full.

still nothing, how annoying is this, the old resistor isnt doing anything either, i have put the motor pins directly on the battery and its not spinning either. Its a new motor i was only running it last week.

i have only got the one battery but it was working with that very motor last week, not sure why it isnt spinning even when connected to the battery.

Try touching the motor leads to a AA battery. Will turn slow, but this will rule out a motor problem. If it turns then check the voltage of the battery with a voltmeter. There could be a loose or broken wire/connector in the battery.

It really sounds like a battery issue to me..

A stupid question (and no I'm not being a smart a$$), Have you recently charged the battery?? Does your charger work??

If you dont have a multimeter, then use a 12V automotive light bulb and connect it to the battery and see if the globe illuminates (turns on / glows)... If the globe illuminates, then leave it connected for a few mins to test if the battery is charged.. If the bulbs "briliance" reduces over a short time, this indicates that the battery is in a discharged state (battery is flat needing a re-charge)..

If you find that the battery is flat, you then need to work out if its your battery or charger that is faulty... (If you find that the battery is OK, I suggest you test/check the following)..

As cubsfan said, try connecting the motor to 1 or 2 (3 or 4) dry cell batteries (D cells work best) and see if the motor works (you may have to remove the motor from the car).. This will test if the motor is OK..

If the motor works OK, then disconnect the BEC lead to the receiver, (or disconnect the receiver completely) and then connect the dry cell batteries to the battery plug on the MSC (noting polarity, red is positive) and then with the motor connected, manually rotate the MSC and see if the motor runs.. This will test if the MSC is OK..

Get back to us with what you find...

Goodluck
