Hi guys,

Thought it would be amusing to make a replica of my wifes red TT by buying a Tamiya TT shell (Tamiya 58300) and putting it on my Fire Dragon Chassis.

Question is, will it fit???

Any advice?

Thanks

No chance.

The Audi is based on it's unique TA034SS chassis, with an odd 247mm wheelbase.

Body dimensions are 247mm wheelbase, 189mm wide, and the tyres have an overall diameter of 64mm. Put a ruler over your Fire Dragon to see how different they are.

The biggest problem is the odd 247mm wheelbase, almost all touring car chassis are 257mm, short wheelbase tourers are at 237mm.

Your options are:

1. Buy a new kit, rcmart.com have one in stock.

2. Pick up a second hand one and add a new body.

3. Pick up any second hand TA04 chassis, fit the TA04-SS wishbones, part number 50942, to shorten the wheelbase and add a new body. Using the TA04-SS wishbones on a TA05 should also work.

4. Buy any touring car chassis, add some wide offset wheels to fill the wheel arches and use the 200mm wide HPI Audi TT body

Thanks for the options guys! My preference is to pick up an old TA04. Can't bring myself to chop up my FD chassis B)

Would it fit a TT01 chassis?

Thanks again guys.

The tamiya body won't there's no easy way to change the wheelbase. The HPI body will fit straight on though.
