^_^ HEEEEELLLLLPPP!

I think I might be losing all interest in my F350 'cause I can't seem to get the gearbox to shift properly. I got it in a trade with Superchampjohn and he did most of the assembly. Only thing I can think might be the problem is the step in the assembly where glue is required on 2 of the bearings. If this wasn't done will you only have the straight drive and not the slower and faster gear as well as no reverse?

Other than that this thing is really awesome with the 2.2's I put on. Waiting for Junfac 4-link suspension, servo bracket for steering and wheel wideners so it doesn't roll over so easily.

Cheers

Hey there Henk4Focus how u doing? Dont know if this info will help you, but i had similar probloms when i built my high lift hilux from scratch. I believe if the bearings wernt glued in place you may select gears randomly but not with any continuity.

However i had a post in " General Discussions"(think on about page 4,5,6 by now) under heading ""High Lift Transmission Selection Probloms... Help Please""

If you look up this disscussion / topic it may help as i had suggestions from various members that offered myself help. In the end i found help through a local hobby shop who'm one of the opperators had built one previously and in person was able to help me diagnose the problom. The symptems you describe a very similar to probloms i had at differnt stages in the stages before fixing my problom. I hope this is of help to you. Just look under my name "Tessa Maloo" . Ben.

:D I am now at the point where I'm going to take a mallett and smash that gearbox to pieces. Tried just about everything and every possible setting, servo saver position and what not but I don't get the gears to shift smoothly. The best I had was a very rough GGGRRRRRR first gear, no second and a now it's there then it's not third.

I like most things Tamiya has done and is doing but this I think is starting to put me of 3-spd all together.

Single speeds rule in my book.

OK, try this:

Disconnect the shift servo linkage, the gearbox should rest in 2nd gear, check it runs smoothly.

Push the shift rod into the gearbox & run it slowly while holding it in gear, does it run smoothly ?

Pull the shift rod out as far as it will go (or push from the back of the gearbox) & check it again.

If it runs smoothly like that, it can only be a problem with your servo travel, or the linkage.

If the gearbox runs badly in any gear, strip it down & check the assembly carefully against the manual.

If you don't have a manual, it's available for download from Tamiya:

Tamiya Japan

Tamiya USA

^^^good reply^^^

I had a problem with the linkage from the servo to the gearbox selector shaft,as i tried to select a gear the shaft rotated so much it wouldn`t push far enough to engage,i fitted a better linkage, this helped but i am thinking a lexan guide bolted to the chassis rail might help further.

Henk, you said servo saver? i don`t think the servo needs a saver for the shifter, some piccys might help.

My bad, meant to say servo HORN. Not a saver but a horn. Now go eat your veggies Henk. :D

I have to try a linkage system like that and see if that will not solve my problem. I remember seeing someone else also doing something like that with the gearbox in the upright position. Hope that wil sort my problem other wise I will be in for a swop or just shop for a single speed tranny as I am not worried to go fast with this truck just everywhere as the 4-link is in and itching for some crawling action.
