1} These tips are simple really! COMMUNICATION try to do so within 24-hours to let the seller know about payment/your plans, especially if you are an impulse buyer/bidder

2} POSTAGE, always read the description first and send questions, however if he/she has a calculator that quotes you one price then he/she spells-out that final postage costs will be sent via invoice then note he/she has given you a pass-not-to-pay-card this is a contradiction and ebay policy no...no, besides being greedy!

3}Greedy/LAZY sellers, who will not help you unless cash or a sure-thing sale will occur. I try to avoid these people if I can!

4}Sellers, pretending to be the courier in trying to get extra cash from you! A local courier transport is only (depends-on weight) $40, but they'll charge you $70-as an example....watch-out for these people even if you do get what you want it is still extortion! Remember if its a real courier they will wear ID/uniform and most importantly you have to sign a receipt being a registered parcel!

5} Bid retraction! Only do so if you are honest, such as you were tired (go too bed) and were not really looking at what you were bidding-on! Retract bid by contacting the seller, however some countries time-line is different alike the USA and Australia almost a full day meaning you have only a 12-hour window to cancel it and once you are under you have bought-it. But a short-cut after going to ebay help and finding the retraction windows put the Item# by drag-and-drop into your google search window then doing the reverse into the retraction-window and when choosing retract-reason click-on "Can not contact seller!" this will also apply for the UK. In the end do so wisely, however look at what currency you are bidding-in especially in pounds or euros especially if you found a last-minute-auction about to end and saw deal and did not even have the time to read the description! Even I've done that!

6} If a seller has between 10 & 200 Items listed and only wants "BANK DEPOSIT" then obviously it is a scam (considering Ebay owns paypal & will only allow you to advertise that!) because that would be allot of transactions if selling allot of what people want at that time with paypal having basic insurance meaning you will not get all of it back!! Plus you'll find that Ebay will cancel these types of accounts as they are simply looking for a "quick-buck" to make and do not want to pay "seller's fees"! Updated 1/5/2009.

7} A SELLER, simply be honest, don't take short-cuts especially with packaging and research postage capabilities for different countries awhile trying to keep shipping-costs at a minimum! Updated 1/5/2009

I've been on Ebay for over a year now and that means almost everyday up to 12-hours a day! Why you might ask? Well-I have a few interests that need parts or can only be gotten from these types of auctions/sales at a cheap price! This is all I can remember for now?! ;)

Regarding me, I've been on the internet for over 7-years, meaning I've been a forum-bouncer, a researcher and writer for web-sites causing me to take me writing very seriously in that I always put-in allot of work into it! So if you are going to add to this than do so without irrelevant comments that show you have not comprehended what I've written or appreciated my efforts? These are not all rules as these comments are combined with my own experiences & understandings! These are suggestions only regarding my own opinion and therefore if you disagree than that is also your opinion!!

All the best to those who read this!! 3turncarby

What I would add to this is if selling, always send the item on a signed for delivery, don't have it as an option, just include it in the postage.

That way you are protected against buyers who claim it never arrived as paypal insist on a tracking number to prove delivery in event of a dispute plus you are protected against Royal Mail/Parcelforce's inablility to get it right every time.

As a buyer i would also be happy to pay extra for insurance/recorded delivery as you have greater peace of mind.
