I understand it'll take a hump in the shape of the original ones, although what would be made today would be shrink wrapped rather than in a hard casing.

Spares will be available after release, like with all Tamiya kits. But I suspect, like with all Tamiya kits, the spares will follow a few weeks after the kits - so initially anything on sale will be broken down kits at a premium price... just a guess, judging by what happens on virtually every release that is

i take it timetunnel will be doing a ESC less version :) i wouldnt want the battery and charger either :)

The new specific Tamiya charger and battery pack already on ebay...185 GBP (LiFE2200 #55104)

Battery alone 72GBP gulp...

I'll get a few hump packs 3700 from vapextech for 12 GBP for now then...

Cripes, this battery situation is perturbing me.

I've already had a hard enough time convincing the other half to let me put money aside for one of these, suddenly announcing I need another 185 quid just to make it go will be tantamount to suicide.

I already have three hump batteries for my M38 (1 original and 2 modern), is there any reason why I can't just use a TEU101 esc and my humps?

It would save a fortune if I could.

Why not use Velcro?

You could. I have to say it did not cross my mind to destroy my original radio box with velcro tape and bouncing batteries :) Now they are 10 a penny I might just screw them in LOL.

That's exactly the set up that I've been told you should run it on - if you don't want the mortgage increased to cover the batteries that is.

7.2v is 7.2v, doesn't matter to the ESC what shape case or shrink it's in.

Does anyone know whether this re-re will include the 3 SRB decal sheets? Did the original include all three, or were they included only with the Scorcher?

Rough Rider: A, B

Sand Scorcher: A, C

But re-issue decals are different

Thank you Shopkeeper, thats what'll do then. I wouldn't pay stupid money for a battery and charger anyway. I want a Buggy Champ as much as anyone but not if Tamiya are going to take the proverbial with the price.

Thanks Hedge thats exactly the set up I'm going to go for :)

Thanks, but are you sure about this? I'm pretty sure the RR had the C decal. And how do you know the re-re are different? My concern is whether the re-re will include the 506 decals for all of us Scorcher restorers...

The RR had B and C. Sand Scorcher had A and B.

Rough Rider never had 506 decal set! Only the Sand Scorcher had it.

Here you see C,B,A

Wrong!

The order is B, A, C.

As I said: :o

RR: A, B

SS: A, C

I see why the confusion.. RA1028 is probably right, because the RR did in fact precede the SS, so it makes sense the 506 sheet was the third to be issued, hence C. Anyway, my point was to find out if the re-re RR would include the 506 sheet, I guess not ;)

I guess they ran around the office saying whos got an old rough rider we need a promo shot. Check out the ariel. I think the black bumper is sprayed, shouldnt the metal parts be err metal coloured :). They have put the resistor cage on the wrong way around (I know, I did the same). Wrong shocks, wrong speed controller, wrong tyres, wrong frp chassis, wrong coloured wiring, wrong decals and I bet the BC has the new steel UJs not the old brass ones... Plus they have the audacity to put thier water mark on the pictures as iof some one else will steal them to also show people what they won't be getting ROTFLMAO

OK "Therapy time" My name is Paul and I am a geek...

It's ok, doesn't matter what the errors are;

*Images are of the original 1979 Rough Rider taken from our own private collection. Actual re-release will vary.

"Limited re-release" has me more worried than anything else. To me this says "Not suitable for a runner because in 6 months you won't be able to find or afford parts".

It's why I didn't buy a HPI Cyber B10 to replace my shelved DF03 MS, complete lack of parts support. It is going to break and wear if you drive it. Being able to repair it so it keeps running is high on my priority list.

Doh... should learn to read more carefully ;).

....you won't be able to find....

You can always find original SRB parts - www.ebay.com ;)

..or afford parts"...

The limited release "could" increase numbers of SRBs, which in theory could increase parts demand (new cars chasing old parts) and hence drive the already over priced old stock even higher.
