I'm confused here. Does this body kit come with a cockpit because I cannot see it in this photo.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/92202-Tamiya-Castrol...34.c0.m14.l1262 .....or is made out of clear lexan?

Also, I have a Dark Impact. What mods, if any, do I need to do to make the Celica body fit?

The bodyset seems NOT to come with the cockpit set, whereas the kit does. I've been looking at that, too :D However, prices on seperate cockpit sets seem to have dropped because people think the re-release cockpits are widely available :) So no need for the re-issue one, just grab an original release off the bay!

Where is the evidence that the kit comes with the cockpit set?

On the other page of the manual it shows a DF03RA it looks like.

If you look at the fine print at the bottom of the page it says: 92200 Castrol Celica '93 (DF-03Ra).

I have my 92200 kit here in front of me (I'm at step 9 now :) )... and I can confirm that the kit comes with the interior. Should be real nice when painted up.

I have one quick question. The kit just comes in a dull green box with a sticker on the side with the information refrered to in earlier posts. Have Tamiya done this before? I often find the box-art quite nice and was a bit dissapointed.

Tamiya sometimes releases their limited release cars in such boxes. Other times they make a piece of art on it that makes very clear it's a special release (like on the Ltd. Ed. Porsche 934 on the TA05). Howver, most of the times I prefer the normal release box arts.

Has anyone bought a bodyset for this yet? It really looks like it does not come with the cockpit.

Just to repeat my earlier question, what parts do I need to get to convert my Dark Impact into a DF03ra chassis?

Posted

Youll need front and rear suspension arms, tie rods, C hubs, uprights and drive shafts. front and rear shock towers, body posts, front bumper (maybe), spur gear cover, touring car sized dampers and probably a different spur and pinion as itll be more toward on road. Ive never tried so im not exactly sure thats just going by what ive seen, I think there is others here that have done it they may be able to help more.

heres the manual for #58417 DF03RA

http://www.tamiyausa.com/pdf/manuals/58417ml.pdf

Should have some part numbers listed in there and you can maybe do a comparison to your car to check parts out.

Hope it helps a bit.

Gulp. That's a lot of parts, think I'd be better off just buying the kit.

Also, I just recieved a mail from Stella confirming that the bodyset does not come with cockpit.

I have now put together the Celica and finished the body. There are a lot of stickers to cut and apply..!. but the end result is quite nice.

I have one question though. I belive I have installed the body as per the manual but it seems to be 4-5 mm too long to the front :P Body holes are pre-cut so that can not be the reason. Anyone else have finished theirs and experienced anything similar?

Posted
probably isnt but did you put the arms on for the shorter wheelbase? theres ones for 257 and 251mm?

Nope, that's not it. I have now seen pictures of another one and it has the same problem. Anyway.. it's only a minor thing and absolutely something I can live with.

I have now been driving this thing and it is a lot of fun. I have ordered a dark impact body to act as dust cover. Hope it will fit under the interior.

I thought it wouldnt be because it would extend it at the rear...

let us know about the dust cover because im hoping to get an interior. I take it youre using it as a runner, good man its what the df03ra is meant for :)
