Name This Car?

Just got this one on ebay in a sellers RC clean out. Have no idea what it is, can anyone help. The only brand name is on the speed control and radio. SPICA. Runs pretty good, just need to overhaul gearbox and front steering.

The red plastic screams Hirobo, but, it is an odd one.

That's a Spica Roadrunner. Might have gone under a different brand name elsewhere (believe it was available via mail order in the US?) but it is NOT the same car whatsoever as that other one called Roadrunner by Varicom or whoever.

Congratulations, because until now I thought I was the only one here who had one.

Mine's near new, with original polycarbonate body.

This car was sold in Australia in 1987 in D i c k Smith stores, and I even have an ad for them from an old catalogue. Not sure if they were a kit or RTR, but you had to buy the radio seperately. They retailed (I think) for AU$229.

Basically a Hornet grade 2WD but very light, with weak suspension.

I loved the look of it back in the day.

Extremely rare to my knowledge.
