Sorry its Friday and I am bored.

I just know most of these will get bought by collectors and very few will be run. I dare someone to build one...

Seriously I would.

But I think Tamiya needs to start adding a TamTech STOCK class the the TCS. Why? Because I did buy the TT buggy champ when it came out (and thats saying somethign as it was/is my first NEW Tamiya in 15+ years) and it is a very nice model and fun to drive; BUT : there is no one to drive it with. Its too nice to XXXX up outside alone, and driving indoors alone is also rather unamusing after 5mins. If there was a stock race class for tamtechs (like mini or buggy or TT) then the car could be used. But as it is, it hangs off a shelf as an ornament in my place. Such a shame.

Super cars, but a stock race series needed to make the purchase useful imo.

The box of the Black Porsche looks nice; not looked, but is it the same as the original?

Both the original box and bag have "Black Porsche 934" printed on them, and a lot of the other text on the box is different:

That's a pic of my original one. You can see it in my showrom here:

I'll definitely be getting one of the re-res to build and run so I can retire my original as a runner.

It looks very nice, but Tamiya made one very big mistake imo... Why o Why does it have such a low tire sidewall/profile? B) The original didn't have such a low profile, not did any cars in the day of the Porsche 934 have such a low tire profile...

I think they have rushed it,IMHO the re re Black Porsche should of been loaded with special options included ,like the cheaper alloy option parts in black and maybe the plastic oil filled shockers in plack plastic as oposed to blue, fantastic though the TTG chassis is,it definately needs oil filled dampers as standard.

I don`t think big T should of done the hard body in parts[like the original],it should of been done as a single part to make it obviously different to the vintage collectors item.

I think they are missing the oppertunity to make everyone happy and definately really upsetting some of the hardcore collectors regardless of why they are hardcore collectors.

probaby so they can use preexisting tyres

Remember that it's a limited and pretty special re-release of an already special and limited released car. I also heard M-chassis tires have the same or similar diameter - why haven't they made special wheels for it and used M-chassis slicks?

possibly to make it different enough to the original so that collectors dont get their knickers in a knot. as if doing it with a tamtech chassis wasnt enough.

Why doesn't the re-issue have BLACK Porsche 934 on it?

Was the licensing fee for the word black too expensive?:lol:

maybe they were scared of offending people?

I like it this way. everyone should be happy. Collectors still have their originals and now people who like the car can buy one at a reasonable price. Yes its limited edition so probably wont get used much but thats OK, if you want to see a black prosche scream around go buy an alternative with plenty of available spares and stick a hot brushless in it. The originals where pretty poor performers, and like all early tamiya where only "suitable" for radio control.

Can't wait.

Why was the original called a black Porsche anyway? For the life of me I can't work it out!

It`s because it is black innit? :D it was a celebration ,limited edition of thier first RC car and marked the end of production of the 934 perhaps?

well their crystal ball was broken that day & they couldn't see ahead to call it the "Blackbird"

(Wangan Midnight & all B) )

I have a question for those of you who have seen this in person. Does the body have mold lines in it that need to be sanded like a regular model? Also was the car at the show painted and cleared? I'm wondering if it should be painted and cleared after I build it ,or just spray clear over the existing black plastic. Anyone have an estimated price for the US market?

Tamiya USA have it up at US$312. See here:

TTG Black Porsche

Both hard and Lexan bodies.

Six-spoke wheels and mesh wheels!

Serial number plate? - does that mean they are going to actually have a numbered limited edition?

The only hop ups I see is the Sport Tune motor and the blue ball stud for steering ...which is kinda pointless

Yeah, I caught that too.. Only I don't see either of those items mentioned in the description, so my guess is they won't be on the final release.

Might I also be the first one to say: What a shame it is to see that gorgeous injection moulded body paired with THE MOST GOD-AWFUL UGLY WHEELS TAMIYA HAS EVER RELEASED! :P

Ah, feels good to get that off my chest.

Anyhow, I'll probably buy a couple to add to the pile. :(

Was at my local FoodForLess today and Cup-o-Soup was 12 for $3.00...so three a day for, oh, maybe 8 months and I can afford to continue my Sand Scorcher build, a Buggy Champ, a Black 934, and an M05 whne it comes out...and when I hit 350 pounds I can go on Biggest Looser and launch a reality show TV career...****, maybe I need to go back to playing WoW...

Hi there folks:

My local Tamiya distributor here in Singapore told me today that the 1/12 Black Porsche 84057 will arrive here by next week.

Unfortunately he could not give me the 'street price' and also mentioned that the bag shown at the Shizuoka Hobby Show is a Japan only item!? :D

Can anybody confirm this?

If this is the case is sure will put a damper on my desire to purchase one since it seems to be a nice kit (and limited at that?).

Best regards,

dabigbozz

hi dabigbozz, I can confirm the same news from Stargek. Apparently, all "bag" models are Japan only -- Tamiya website confirms this  :

Item No: 84057

1/12 R/C Porsche 934

R/C Limited Edition

Tamiya’s first electric R/C car, the Porsche 934, is now re-released in black which was also released as a limited edition back in 1977. High performance GT-01 chassis. Kit includes a polycarbonate body for driving, as well as an injection molded resin body for displaying. Included is a special canvas carry bag (Japan market only). ※Requires EXPEC SP TamTech-Gear Drive Set (sold separately). Length: 355mm

What's worse is that apparently all the "bag" models are sold out.
