After the re-release of the Bough Rider a Sand Scorcher would be easy to re-release too. Tamiya could uase the body of the Blitzer Beetle - the bodies are not identical but I wouldnt care about those details.

That would be awesome as i never had the oppurtunity to build a SRB from the box only from new packed parts and i wanna tear into one of those blister packs (well carefully that is ;) ).

I wouldn't be so sure about this... Did you see that Tamiya tried tried to avoid as much licensing on the Buggy Champ 2009 as possible? They can't really avoid licensing on the VW and Baja bodykit items.

Since they tried to avoid a lot of licensing on the Buggy Champ re-re, they will either need to change that mentality and license for the Scorcher or not re-release it at all (a Scorcher body re-re without licensing is practically impossible I think). So a Scorcher re-release? It looks a bit odd to make deals on licenses for a Scorcher re-re and not using licensed stuff for the re-release of the Rough Rider.

Im not listening to the skeptics anymore as there were so many saying there would never be a re-release of an SRB due to the cost of metal parts, licensing, high cost blah, blah, blah. All they need to add is the front body post, the grasshopper tires and wheels and a VW body. And the blitzer beetle body is still available through Tamiya USA and they wouldn't have any problems getting permission to recreate the body.

Well you do have a point there that I didn't think about... But when it's discontinued on TamiyaUSA, does it mean out of production or just that TamiyaUSA doesn't import the item anymore? (and the other way around for the Blitzer Beetle - could it still be in production?)

I'm with you Mike, I want this to happen in pretty much any shape or form, so I'm saying I think it will happen.

JUst because today I'm feeling like a glass half full kinda guy !

All BS aside, I hope it happens.. Think about it, how many Tamiya one off body/chassis mass production kits been released - none! Makes since to have 2 different bodies for one chassis, Tamiya created this concept years ago! Build or remake a chassis, make different bodies for it. Look at the High Lift or TT01 series, enough said..

What about that B2B sidecar thingy, and the solar one?

I know if i had designed something and tamiya came and asked if they could make a model of it i would be over the moon , i hope that greed of copywrite or what ever its called in this case doesnt stop the making of another rc icon !

My guess would be when TamiyaUSA has stopped importing them they would list them as discontinued, but eventually when Tamiya Inc ceases production then it would be 100% correct.

Toy Traders in Australia list Tamiya models as discontinued, when they are still in production and sold in Japan and other countries.

Should they re-release the Scorcher? After all, it's the "Holy Grail" of Tamiya RC. Lots of history, emotion and near-religious fervor associated with this car.

If they re-release it - watch the Holy Grail turn into a $2 coffee mug!

"Sure, why not...."

Mr T's exact words a few months back in a meeting with his accounting and marketing department when they asked about the Rough Rider....

Personally I think the SS re-release is a given.

I do agree with the rumour that they'll keep it quiet for now as it could hurt the sales of the Buggy Champ.

For me, the idea of being able to bash with a few friends with a RR, a SS and a Ford Ranger SRB all together is just too compelling for words. Can't wait!

Flame away dudes

I'd be happy ;)

But more importantly will they actually have spare parts?? I would like to run these re-release without worrying about irreplaceble parts

On the ReRe RR thread there's a Tamiya promo video for the Re-Re RR. At the end of that are the words... "Coming Soon..... ..... the Sand Scorcher".

Think that answers the question really :D

That's a Tamiya club members video I think and he means that he is doing a vid for the scorcher next.

The way i see it is this,it will of cost Tamiya quite a bit to get these new castings sorted, they will of had to make/buy in quite an amount of these parts to make re-releasing viable,i think they will produce a certain number of Buggy champs and see how they sell and demand,if they don`t sell as well as expected, then seriously expect the other SRB`s to be re-released to get rid of the cast parts. The bodys are easyer for Tamiya to re-release in house,so they might do the others if the BC is a flop, just to get through the stock of cast parts into production.

I am sure they are not deliberaltly trying to upset the collectors market, because the collectors are sales too.

the scorcher is the most pop of the srb's

tamiya has no trouble getting the rights to

all the other manf. i.e. porsche ford toyota and others.

i dont think v.w. will be a problem, it never was in the past.

plus you'll notice when they come out with a kit like cr-01

first totota land crusier-japaneese market

second unimog-european market

third ford usa market.

v.w. is popular in all these markets so

i think its just a matter of time.

mean while i put a kamtec shell on my buggy champ for now.

but i dont think the wait will be to long.

For me the RR and SS go hand-in-hand. The original SRB's were basically the same car with a different body and were almost released as a pair - at least they were originally released very close together (only about a month apart I think?). In the same way second time around I think Tamiya would do something similar. I can imagine a SS re-release before Christmas if not sooner.

If not, I'm still very, very happy with a Buggy Champ even if it is the only SRB that gets a re-release.
