Kyosho Circuit Or Thundertiger?what Is This Thing?

Recommended Posts

Some of you may have seen my last post with the auction pictures of this unknown thing and someone identified it as a kyosho circuit, thanks very much. However after abit of research it seemed to be slightly different. Now that it has arrived, here are some better pictures of it. The engine is a 25, only markings I can find are "germany" on one side. It was siezed but I managed to free it up so its now nice and smooth. How on earth do you start these things? There is no pull start, or hole for drill start so is it push start? I suppose the most important question is, what is it?

To be honest it's not in that bad condition. Once I removed the home made plate from the bottom of the chassis, I realised it only needed a very good clean and a new radio tub and body. Im hopeing integra fan can help me with that.

So what do you think?

as INTEGRA FAN shows, using a starter, or a starter box. All competition nitro cars use a starter to get them going, none of them have a pull or drill start.

Actually pull start was not that effective that time, although Kyosho introduced it for their Circuit 20 Buggies, see scans below from the first Circuit buggy and Fairlady manuals, they show a thread that is rolled on a special flywheel, this thread is included in the Circuit 20 Kits I have.

Thank you very much for your help. The only problem I can see is that the fairlady engine head was round and mine is square, the rest of the engine looks to be correct so should I just leave it the way it is? Im also not sure if the flywheel is correct or is somthing missing? Please let me know if you see any other missing parts. I really appreciate your help.

I have stripped the back end down to clean and will do some before and after pictures later.

I recommend that you dismantle all the parts and give them a good clear, only then you would know if there are missing parts, but sure the clutch bell is missing or modified;

Hi,
Well I have stripped the back end down and everything seems to be ok. I stripped the engine, spent hours cleaning in between the fins on the head and now I need to clean the rest of it. I cannot find any makers name on the head so could it be a custom part? Or perhaps a very rare hop up? The piston looks good, sleeve is ok but in the future I wouldn't mind replacing it so i'm sure its ok. The bearing at the end of the conrod(big end?) seems to have a tiny bit of play in it. Does this mean I need a new conrod? Kyosho manual pictures aren't really that clear and i'm not sure which bits of the clutch bell are missing, could you please tell me? I noticed that there are no brakes on the engine, is this right? Do you know where I can get engine spares for this car? Once restored I will be purchasing one of your fairlady bodies and radio tub, do they come with body mount as mine are missing.

the clutch bell external shell is missing, actually it is a shaft that is connected to the clutch bell (one piece) it is part number 106 in the exploded view.

the brake mechanism is fitted on the clutch bell it is also missing, see the drawing below (step 17), try fixing today engines rather than finding spares for this one,
