Hi there, I'm from GTA as well - Scarborough. There is an onroad track at Oakville (Fastcats), the best facility in GTA so far. There are a few more clubs around, I know of one in Newmarket, and another in Durham region (Whitby). There are a few of us in Scarborough that set up our own parking lot track every weekend (mostly Sundays), bunch of guys racing Canadian TCS and a few RC Drifters.

Where are you located?

hey Bimdapogs, good to know there are some members close by. i'm in North York, but my gf lives in Scarborough so i'm there pretty often.

i had heard about Fastcats but i haven't been there. i was going to go check out the TCS race last weekend but got busy. i was hoping for a track a bit closer than Oakville but hey, i'll take what i can get.

Where abouts in Scarborough do you guys meet and set up the track?

I am from the North York area and own a 1/10 F1 car, but currently it is set up to a Le Mans configuration and I have not had much luck finding any clubs nearby either.

If you talk to the people at Advance Hobbies, though, I think they know one or two... The shop is in Scarborough at 4142 Sheppard Avenue East.

Yeah Advance is my shop (that I buy from - I don't own it) . I'm in Scarborough but nothing race ready in my collection other than maybe an M03.

Yup i know of Advance hobbies. I haven't touch my f103 or rc since 1999. I don't even know if my car even up to speed with all this new stuff like lipo batteries and Brushless motors. all my gear, radio, esc is from the early 90s and still have nicad batteries. I guess rc died off for me as soon as RC champ Raceway close down if u remember them. It be cool if we can get together a bought of guys running f1s. So far I have me, my bro and 2 other friends that run f103s. I need more f1s ppl!

hey u know they open a new rc track here in Mississauga called Universal speedway, too bad it "offroad" indoor carpet

This sounds intresting! What is the story behind this place? Can anyone go? Do they have vintage classes? Free time to run the track?

Admittedly, though, the shop is a bit sparse on F1 hop-ups and spares, and so I turned to eBay for a while to pick up other parts.

And most definitely to the idea of more people running F1 cars! The club scene is almost nonexistent where I live; while I have been involved with my F1 car for some time, I still have yet to race anywhere suitable for an RC car... There was a nice schoolyard I could somewhat open up the car on, but the pavement has since been covered with woodchips.

I've actually never played my f1 outside. Do the foam tires get teared up on asphalt? I would imagine the expensive carbon fiber chassis would look like you ran it under a power sander after?

If anybody is around Port Stanley, Ontario, it's boring racing my Brushless Blitzer Beetle, Clod Buster & soon to be Axial Exo Buggy alone !

I'm always there early in the morning to ensure I don't run over any beach bunnies :D .

Count me in for this back to my roots! My family is in London and I usually travel with a vintage in the trunk just in case. OSR

I ran my car outside in its stock form. The FRP chassis got its fair share of wear, definitely not helped by my penchant for getting the car to straddle the raised edge of the pavement beside the dirt field. As it was completely stock, my car had rubber tires, and thus no comment on the wear of foams on pavement. However, I am not too keen on finding that out either...

When I came to Ottawa, I swapped in all my hop-ups, including foam tires and a carbon chassis plate. It has since yet to turn a wheel.

Lou's Speedway is in Dorchester, so some distance from Toronto.
