I see Time Tunnel are almost giving them away for £50 and Tamiya USA are showing them as out of stock...are they about to disappear once again? If so it will have had a good run of 4 years.

Anyway at that Time Tunnel price it would have been rude not to get one, although they have never really got my blood pumping on looks alone. Are they any fun on the beach??...cos that's where this one will live. :P

They're fun just about anywhere, even stock. They're not fast, but they are fun. It is the low-tech, hard-working farmboy of the entry-level monster truck world.

For off-roading, the smoother it is, the more reliable your steering will be. A beach would be brilliant. Another thing is that the drivetrain is well-sealed, except for the holes in the motor can. I'd rig some kind of filter for that before going on the beach, but that's about it.

Even though it has low-tech "suspension" and probably less than half the speed of my Stampede, it is just as much fun.

There's a huge Lunch Box thread over at RCU that has been going for years now. There's some repetition, but a lot of good info. The guys say that it is totally transformed once proper oil shocks are fitted.

I don't think they'll discontinue it. I hear it is their most popular re-re, and they will never say no to more money.

Lunchboxes are fun wherever you run them.

The comedy handling, unequal steering & ridiculous wheelies are a recipe for endless fun.

Among the Eastern Bashers crowd, almost everyone has a Lunchie in some form or other, it's probably Tamiya's single most popular model.

Add to that, the toughness, apart from the cosmetics, they can take enormous amounts of punishment, up to and including serious brushless power.

It's certainly one of my favourite cars, it ALWAYS gets run whenever I go bashing, no matter if it's mud, snow, ice, sand, dirt or tarmac.

Cheers guys. Is it possible to fit smaller wheels and tyres to them? I was thinking along the lines of Grasshopper rears with the Padlatraks fitted to them.

I guess I'd better jump on one then. I always wanted to do an A-Team theme on one. Think I'll order one now.lol

Hmm, that's interesting. I always fancied one of those original Pajeros. Are the bodyshells expensive/hard to find?

They are quite hard to get hold of in good condition , nib bodies can go for anything up to £130 (bin JR-RC recently) The chassis in its Pajero form is also hard to get . I have built up a Pajero with a LB chassis tub modified to suit the 'Jero shell and original chassis component set up , easy job btw - take a look in my showroom at my Camel Pajero . There is also a stock original chassis'd lightly restored runner in there too :P

Cheers. There is actually a NIB one for sale on ebay at the moment for £96 plus postage. Ouch.

Do you reckon parts and shells will be still available? i bash mine loads and would like to have a few custom painted shells in the future and still have available spares.

Can you direct me to that thread please?

Just to add to the Lunchbox Love. Saw the same £50 raw deal from TimeTunnel and bought one on impulse.

It's ballraced, has the CVAs from my old Monster Beetle fitted and a custom paint job.

Working in London this week, and Download later on in the week, so won't get a chance to run it until next week, sadly.

Can't wait to experience the Lunchbox Lunacy tho - and at least by then the paint will have a proper chance to harden :D

Just ordered one, £51.50 delivered. ;)

Just got mine this morning too! Couldn't not get one at that price! So I have now joined the 'more than 1 lunchbox' club!

Now all I need is some inspiration to make it different from my current one............

I can't find it

Looks like you missed out, as they have put the price back up to £64. They must have had a bit of a rush of demand at £50.
