Ben lurking this thread for a while, after the aggro Jakes had a few years back (and a couple of others that never appeared) I held off before posting. If all is looking good may I add to the list for 1 ?

Nice RR rims btw! top work :(

how can we choose one set if they all look so pretty????? any combo deals for cover + diff

Sure, but still waiting for the diff parts to arrive before I can finallize the price. People who bought the covers now will get the same discount for a combo deal later.

Thanks

Sorry for the waiting. Good news is the diff is done. Bad news is I find out there is an issue need to be fixed. Even the original Thorp diff has this issue. People who have the original Thorp diff may know what I mean. I would like to keep this as a secret at this moment.

That means my final product will be better than the original. hopefully all will be done next week and I will announce all the detail at that time.

Here are some photos of the repro diff.

RA1028 looking great man!!! Can't wait!!!

As the thicknes of the flat part on the axel is thicker how do you solve it?

I know when I put in my brassgear the axel was thicker and the result was the screwhead scratched the gearcover so I had to file down the head a bit...

Any other with the same problem?

Bout the wheelcover is it possible to order a set in white?

This is what I am working on. I have the solution and you will see the result when the final product coming out.

About the wheel cover, they are anodizd so it has to be a metalic colour. if you want white, then there is no point making it from alloy. You can just paint the plastic wheel cover and you will get the same result.

Yeah, but I want centrelines!!!

For my next project...

How about the rest of the gears?

Any brass from you?

Making the middle gear brass will only shorten the life of the brass part of the diff. Do you think it is necessary? May be people can tell me they want that. it can easily be done.

Just curious but can't you make the outer ball diff gear from mild steel (freely machining, cuts easy) and then case harden it afterwards to a good depth and then you could use the brass middle gear no problem? Is that feasable?

Cheers,

Yes it could be done. But my thinking is, does a srb runner today really need that heavy equipment. Most people today who still run them are not into competition. What do you guys think, please let me know.

Even though I won't be doing competitions I think I'll be running my SRB hard like a madman so, IMHO, the parts would be better for me the more durable they are.

Apart from RCs I'm also into modding paintball markers (which are mostly made of aluminium) and, whilst researching anodising for my numerous modding projects, I've discovered that it's actually impossible to anodise a true white. The closest to it is a really light 'dust' silver which appears to be white. It's still as strong as other anodising colours but it's really difficult to acheive by comparison. My advice is to get the covers and paint them very carefully in loads of very light coats. Another option would be to get them powdercoated.

Leave it alone leave the plastic gear as the weakspot. We can all buy these gears very cheap now thanks to re-re. Build the diff and start selling :)

I would personally only be putting a Sport Tuned through it at the most. Also Brass won't rust LOL.
