Hi all. I have a chance to pick up an old Schumacher Shotgun . He wants $75 and I would have to take a 2 hour trip to pick it up. He emailed me pictures of it and it looks pretty good and comes with extra new parts. My question is how is this truck ? I never see them on ebay. Collectable? Rare? They never seemed to be too popular in the USA as far as I know. Thanks.....Jim

Jim,

Nice to be able to help someone who's helped me so many times.......

The Schumacher Shotgun is pretty much a big wheeled Schumacher Cougar 1, in that the chassis is very much the same for both vehicles. It came with a larger front bumper to mount the front of the truck body, and a different rear shock tower to incorporate the rear body mounts. The original body was a Parma truck, very old skool truck body, unlike the later chassis-hugging RC10T and Schumacher Storm bodies. The truck also had a slightly taller front shock tower - most of the time, at least. I have a new built one here My new built Shotgun.

As they were based on the Cougar, they were a competition-spec truck, much more than the early truck conversions. It's a simple task to convert Cougar - Shotgun or back. I always found my Shotguns to be a great racer and basher, with great handling and the ability to take a low turn motor with ease. Good to remember, also, that Schumacher used the Shotgun as their basis for the original Nitro 10 2.5cc nitro trucks, so it could handle a beating (mine did!).

Parts are still available for a lot of the truck new (Schumacher are great at recycling their parts), so there may not be too much value in the 'extra new parts', unless they're some parts that have not been recycled. In electric form, they don't come up on eBay very much, but the rough ones that do come up don't seem to go for too much. Haven't seen a new built or NIB come up for quite a while, though, so rarity is there for good condition trucks.

Any more questions, don't hesitate to send me a PM Jim..... I have the manual in a PDF if needed too.
