As The title suggests, appologies if this subject has been posted before, but what do you all think? Is a re-issue of these kits ever likely to hapen? even if they re-re the avante 2001 Id be happy. Has anyone got any idea what tamiyas next re-release will be, or are they chosen at random in some japanese board room?

Thanks in advance

After the Rough Rider re issue, I have lost all credibility when it comes to this :-) However, the Rough Rider sold really well, the Avante and Egress not so well and even if Tamiya have surprised us with the Rough Rider in tooling up the new mouldings very well and cheaply, the parts (not to forget motors like Technigold and Dynatech) which went into the Avante series were way more expensive, so the price point would certainly be higher. However, recent months have taught me never to say never and also an Avante 2001 seems more likely than the rest.

My money is on no, but who knows :-)

Keep well,

Paul.

i kinda wonder about this one, as all i hear on tamiyaclub about them is either "man these things broke easy" and "man i hope they rerelease the avante!", somehow i think the two are linked :)

I sure would like them too!

I have both, new built sitting pretty on my desk but I would love an egress runner. The way I drive my runners the avante would not last day, it is super fragile because alot of key stress points rely on plastic parts that have become brittle with 20+ years on them (C & D parts im looking at you!).. I almost hold my breath just picking it up.

However I'm betting we don't see either for a while if ever. Between the two I think the egress has a better chance and sooner as we already have the original Avante, the Avante 2001, and the "new" Avante on the DF-03 platform which is still readily available.

Fingers crossed for the egress then! now, do you think tamiya head office reads these posts :)

Yep + for Egress if i remeber rightly had some sort triangle rear wish bone and carbon fibre galore, I jsut thought it looked

amazing at the time!

Wonder how much a re re would be!

Thanks

The Avante was a poor seller and expensive to make 20 years ago, and it will still be expensive to make now. My bet would be that it would sell even worse as a re-re. They already made a cheaper version of the Avante as a re-re in the Avante 2001 and it didn't set the world on fire either.

There's no real reason to own that car aside from collectability, and we have to face facts that collectors are a very small part of the market.

The Egress or Vanquish would be cheaper to re-re, and would have a lower price, making it more attractive to buy for a larger market.

In this day and age, anything is possible. What was a no today, tomorrow, 10 years from now, could be a yes when the conditions are right whether is for revenue or marketing reasons. Anything is possible since Tamiya built it before, they surely can built it again as is or with improvements. I think Tamiya will continue to re-release kits from the golden age, but under special anniversary or events. My answer is yes, but just don't know when.

Personally I would like Tamiya to re-release the old 3 spd Blazer soon, not say on their 50th anniversary or some birthday of Mr. Tamiya, unless is next year.

Yeah, maybe 1000 or so would be cool

that would not be cool .....because the prices will be driven so high again that I can't afford a new one

I will share a little data with you all that you might find interesting. My company sells the mini RC tamiya buggies under license in the USA - Terrain Titians from Spin Master ($14.99 in all good toy shops). We looked carefully at the mix (which cars we would release) based on the history of the original buggies. We too saw that the Avante was never a big seller for a number of reasons so were unsure as to how successful it would be in the USA. However, we have been selling the cars for a number of months now and have see that the Avante is in fact one for the best sellers in the line.

It would be interesting to know how Tamiya have seen the sales of the Avante Jr mini and RC Mark II follow a similar trend? I suspect that IF Tamiya were to re-release this kit it would appeal to both the TC members who could never afford it or simply justify its price the first time AND the new generation of hobbiest that simply find the design style of the car appealing.

The car does have a great blend of style and amazing (if not the most effective a the race track in its day) engineering.

MY vote is yes please Mr Tamiya:

1. Because I am just an optimist at heart

2. I do not care about the $$ value of my collection I would just love to be able to drive an Avante in anger and not worry about breaking it (just like back in the day).

James.
