Hi,

hope that is the right forum but i think its realated enought to tamyia, so i post it here.

Yesterday i tripped with 3 friends to the Eifel (german landscape) wich is famous for his rally tracks for many years.

This weekend there were the german rally championchip there including a historic part.

Lancia Stratos, Toyota Celina Turbo,Audi 200 quattro and Quattro S1.

Also Renault 5 Turbo Porsche 959,Opel Ascona 400,VW Golf 1,MG Metro, Lancia Delta Integrale etc. and many more (70 cars).

So i would like to share some photos with you.

I also shot a video but i need some time to capture and put it online.

It was awesome to see this Monsters in action.

I cant find the english words for the feelings wich came up at the track.

This phots are from a friend so they are made with a little digicam.

Some shots are to bright and not all cars listed above are shown but if you are

interested i made some real good ones with my 300tele but on a analog

Canon AE1 so net week i think i can show some more photos.

The loudest car.You can feel it in you stomach when it passes

At the service point it was no prob to get in touch with the cars and the drivers and mechanics.

The crown of 80´s Rallysport 600hp Audi Quattro S1.Pilot was the german WRC-Rally driver Armin Schwarz with his wife who was the co-pilot.

My first choice to be.The S1 cockpit

Some more impressions from the service. these tires are so small and cute...

s1%20service.jpg

Some more action. You could hear them miles away.

They screams like badword. At this point we could see the start 2 km away

and we were able to track the cars in the landscape. You could separate the cars by sound,Group B or not :-)

In these image you can see that these corner is called the "Manta Loch" means (Opel Manta) hole.

Cause in the years were the Mantas raced here for the fastest times many of them gone into the green behind the sign.

The guide Book says more than 20!

After the race we look into the green but we found nothing...:-)

Two old rivals the S1 hunting a Lancia 037

Absolutely great photos [:)]!!! They made my day! Didn't know of the event, but perhaps I would have skipped our yesterdays R/C meeting and made a trip to the Eifel (which can't be very far from Cologne). btw: I'm no Porsche expert, but you sure this is a 959?

Lovely photos, wish I was there, btw supergreg is right, that is a 4x4 911 Carrera 3,2 (953), the predecessor of the rallye 959.

Cheers

The pictured Porsche is a 911 4WD Paris-Dakar car and not a Porsche 959 Paris-Dakar car, quite lowtech compared to the 959.

There also exists a 911SC `84 Rallycar in Rothmans livery which resembles the 911 4WD, but is RWD only.

Looks like great fun indeed... Actually, there is also going to be a Rally-sprint event here in Jutland, (Denmark) near Silkeborg soon... As a crowd pleaser, they want to arrange a "Classic car" tour of the track, at moderate speed, and we have been invited to enter this "race" with our 1967 Mustang Convertible.. Cool, i think... Sounds like great fun, IF the weather allows us to run it with the top down, LOL... Also, i will have my old man in the co-drivers seat i guess, so no chance of showing what "moderate speed" is in a Mustang, LOL... Also, i expect a friend of mine to enter his Mini 1275 GT, which he has been running on Rallycourses in most of Europe since the late 70´s.. Also great fun to watch this little bathatub bashing aroud. Actually, it goes quite fast!!....

Cheers...

Very nice pictures![8D] Are the wheels on the Porsche suppose to be yellow or was the yellow wheels something Tamiya did?

id="quote">id="quote">

As written in some topics above that car on the photo isn't a 959, but even the 959 had white wheels, also don't understand why Tamiya did it

Thanks Theo! I knew that wasn't a 959, but all the other 959 pictures I saw were white also. Maybe Tamiya thought it looked better yellow than white who knows.

Nice pics!

Hi guys,

sorry for the delay i had to work alot at the moment so my responding

time is very long. The analog photos need some more days.

At my spare time i tried to get the DV source onto a DVD

(audio/pic asyncron) this eat the most time i didnt work :-(.

quote:so who owns these cars? a historic society or individuals with some spare change?
id="quote">id="quote">

As far as i know most of the cars are owned by their divers.

The S1 for example is from Armin Schwarz himself.

About the Porsche: The guide Book says its a Porsche 953 (Paris Dakar,Ickx,Rothmans)

@supergreg: cologne is by far nearer then kassel.we drove 3 hours.

But next year there will be the same event.Take a look at the adac motorsport page under historic events.

A good advice is,to order the guide book some weeks bevor so you can

make a time frame for that day(s.And at the shakedown this year there was the possebilitiy to drive as copilot in the most cars.

70 euros per ride but i think 70euros for 15min 600hp is more then fair.

And for madmat one more lancia037 shot from the digitalset.(wait for the analog :-) )
